Gtx 680 Vanilla vs Gtx 670 ftw - Page 2

What's the price difference? The 680 is only 10% faster than the 670, so it normally doesn't make a lot of sense to pay a significant premium for one (certainly not $100+). But I also wouldn't pay a significant premium for the FTW card either, since the reference cards do pretty well for overclocking anyway. The only real reason to pay a premium, for me, is to get a better cooler, which the FTW doesn't have.
From microcenter, there is only a $60 price difference. As far as I know, the 670 ftw only has a factory overclock and a reference 680 pcb, right?

The difference between them is short, maximum 5 fps in battefield 3 1920x1080 for example in stock OC, reference gtx680 OC and ftw OC i think was no/low difference about fps.
If don't care about money buy gtx680 if you care buy gtx670 ftw.

I'm heading to my local Microcenter tomorrow to get a new GPU. Right now, I have narrowed down my search to an EVGA 670 FTW or a Zotac 680. I was initially set on the EVGA, but upon search the website, I noticed they had a Zotac 680. This thread, and others I have ready, seem to be almost split evenly.
Which should I get? I am leaning towards the EVGA just because of the brand. I currently have GTX 480's from both manufacturer's and I have had no problems with either. Are the FTW's binned higher then other 670's/Vanilla 680's? I am hoping that this GPU upgrade is my last for quite some time.
The bottom line:
I am leaning towards the 670 because I prefer EVGA and the associated software (precision)
I am leaning towards the 680 because it is the flagship card.
Help a brother out here!

Just out of curiosity, what games are you playing that you feel your cards just can't handle anymore? I only ask because I'm rocking the same cards and have been mildly curious as to if getting a 600 series is worth it. a few games melt my cards still, like metro 2033 and the witcher 2, and bf3 on armored kill maps, but I also game at 2560x 1440; that is the expected result from my experience.

yes I posted that very sentiment in an earlier post in this tread but the OP was about why a 670 cost 499 while a 680 cost the same, obviously talking about the 670 4gb

Sorry, my sig rig has been outdated for some time. I went from a modded Zotac and Galaxy card to a single EVGA 480. I planned on getting a XSPC RX240 Extreme before upgrading my GPU, and needed top get the Antec 620's out of my case. However, I ended up shrouding my H80 and was able to bring down my CPU temps enough for me to swap my upgrade priorities.

I ended up getting the EVGA 670 FTW. I can't say I am 100% impressed, but I was really hoping for a 3 monitor card, which it does. Also, because the 670 FTW uses a reference 680 PCB, I can always water cool it down the road. However, this new card is probably half as loud as my 480.

The 670 FTW was a 2gb model while the Zotac 680 was a vanilla card. The 670 was 429.99 while the 680 was 499.99. I took the savings and bought Mists of Pandaria, even though I may not play for some time.

If you can sfford it, get the gtx 680, but if you are on a single monitor and dont need the overkill (for one monitor) get the gtx 670, even a ftw. Most ftw cards are as good as their big brother.
