antec 550watt enough?

I've used a few psu calculators and generally it says 500 watts is fine, I have an AMD 8150 3.6ghz, 8gb corsair vengeance ram (2 sticks), 6870, 1 HDD at 7200 RPM, 1 DVD drive, 4 case fans and my motherboard is a gigabyte 990fx ud3. I was wondering if even though it says It is enough that it could be the reason for my computer turning off within around 5-10 minutes of playing most games, I can play a couple of games that don't force my pc to turn off but may not be as demanding as the others.

Games that i can run: League of Legends, SC2, Quake live and cs 1.6

Games that force my pc to turn off: CoD4, BF3, Guild Wars 2 and CS GO

Ya I think a 400 watt would be fine too but not too much lower

Sounds like a bad psu. You have another to check it with?

Your golden at 550w check all your wiring, sounds like yous psu is faulty if its not ur psu it maybe your mobo. do a swap and check thumb.gif

no i dont have another to check it with, do you think for certain its a problem with my psu causing my pc to turn off or could it be something else? i dont want to have to buy a new psu and still have the problem

Run prime95 for 30mins and tell me if your pc shuts off but watch temps

sorry it took me so long to reply, getting wrecked in all my classes >_>, hope you still see it, first off i just tried playing those games again today and instead of my pc shutting off it just froze entirely and i had to turn it off with power button... i did the stress test and my pc froze like it did before in about 5 minutes and it got up to 85 degrees celcius, and usually in games that make it freeze it gets to like 40-50C if that makes a difference
