U2711 Displayport autodetect problems

I just got a U2711, and I wanted to try out Displayport on it so I can attempt to connect 3 monitors total to my 6950. However, I'm running into a problem that I'm finding really annoying. I did a search online, but I've been unable to find a solution. Hopefully you guys can help.

Basically, when I turn off my U2711 connected by displayport, everything seems to be fine. But when I turn on the monitor, my secondary monitor connected by DVI shows what should have been on the U2711 for a few seconds, and then the U2711 turns on and many of my windows have been shrunk down in size, and all windows that were originally on my DVI monitor got pushed to the displayport monitor.

It's bugging me a lot since I keep my media player, steam, and a few other windows open on my second monitor. Is there any way around this?

Try disconnecting the DVI monitor first... then just boot on with the U2711 via displayport. Then adjust desktop settings and make the U2711 your primary monitor. afterwards sturn off your PC then connect the DVI monitor - the PC should see the U2711 as the primary monitor and ask if you want to extend or replicate the primary displayport monitor onto the DVI monitor so desktop should not change...

If anything it could be because the DVI monitor boots up faster due to the connection type that is causing this with the PC assigning primary desktop to the first monitor that boots..

Well, I have the DP monitor set up as the primary. It's just that because of plug and play detection, if I turn the u2711 off, windows doesn't see it anymore and when I turn it back on, it does some funny shuffling of windows and such
