Hello everyone, first time poster here.
I wanted to buy a cheap gaming mouse, and after doing a fair amount of research, I concluded that the X-718 mouse from A4 Tech was the best "bang for the buck" that I was going to find. I bought the mouse, and for the most part, it performs exactly as I expected, with one major exception: the lift off distance on this thing is abysmal. 2 or 3 mm off the desk, and it's STILL tracking.
As someone who plays a lot of FPS games, and does a lot of video editing, that doesn't do it for me. Hell, I used a 5 €/7 $ optical mouse previously, and that one had no issues with LOD whatsoever. This was supposed to be an upgrade, not a downgrade.
I figured this issue might get fixed with a driver update, though, as far as I can tell, there are no driver updates available on the A4 Tech site. The only thing I can find on there, is an update for the X7 Oscar Editor, which doesn't even work. Whenever I try to start it, it tells me that my mouse was not detected; and no, unplugging and plugin the mouse again does not solve the issue.
I'm not sure what to do next, hence why I made this thread. My question is two-fold.
First of all, do you know a way to fix the LOD issue, and what experiences have you had with this mouse?
It should be noted that I'm not currently using a mousepad. How big of a difference does that make?
Second of all, if I return this mouse, what should I get instead? What are your suggestions for a comfortable optical mouse, with perfect LOD, and adjustable DPI of up to 1200, on a budget of around 15 € - 28 € or 20 $ - 35 $?
Thanks.
