This sickens me how Arena Net has done this, at least give them 72 hour bans and roll back their characters, but coning them out of their £50 or $60 is horrendous, most of them were probably new players and didn't know what they were doing and they permanently take away game access and their accounts they paid so much for? I know I'd be demanding a refund!
I didn't even know what karma was in this game so thankfully I didn't get caught up and buy one, I spent so much time in World vs World and sleeping while I'm in the queue, they need to fix problems in their game before they go on banning sprees.

I'm sure the EULA states that exploiting game bugs can result in account suspension or something along those lines.

Yeah I know of something like that within the EULA, but what they need to think about is the wide audience they've let into their game, the game is rated 12+ this means 12 year olds or older people will have access to the game, If a twelve year old was told to buy these weapons from a vendor because there was sort of some Mass sale I guarantee they'd run there and buy all they can, and a twelve year old would probably not read a EULA or even know what one was, so when he can't gain access to the game not only is he going to be upset and confused but his parents will be furious at him and arena net.

I'm not saying Arena net shouldn't ban people from their game, what they've done was simply going by wehat they said and punishing people for not abiding their rules or "laws", that's good that they are doing this but I still think they went over the top, especially since the game just got released, people are going to be cautious about their games and Guild Wars 2.

Oh and btw I wasn't caught up in this either, I'm just speaking against what arena net has done.

Again, the permabanned players got a chance to redeem themselves and get their bans reduced to 72 hours. Read the entire story before commenting, please smile.gif

Eh I agree with them. There is no way a player did this by accident or had no idea. They should be happy they can open support tickets an attempt to unlock their account.

The people who were banned obviously knew that this was a bug they were exploiting, otherwise they wouldn't have done it enough to get banned. Frankly they deserve the ban because it's people like this that hurt the long-term viability of the server economy.

Good people found the problem and reported it, and knew enough not to make (too much) use of it.

Yeah I find it funny so many people in here saying OMERGERD that ban is too harsh.. Dood they broke the freaking rules. But apparently in our civilization knowingly breaking a rule repeatedly doesn't warrant a harsh consequence. This is why there are so many trolls and bullies. We don't punish them so that they learn and serve as an example to others. Very sad state of affairs considering you and I are the only two people out of almost 30 posters that said this was the correct course of action. God help them in the real world.

First of all, it wasn't an outright ban.

It was a 3 day suspension and if they don't sell the items back to the vendor, they're up for a ban.

It's in the hands of the accused to actually garner their own fate...

I'd suggest the vast majority of you people, read more...Seriously.

I did read the original article when it was a permanent ban for those who sold their items to others for massive profit. Those people now don't get permanently banned? They knowingly cheated others and did it repeatedly. I'd say that was garnering their own fate. They knew it was wrong and they did it anyway.

I meant going above and beyond the scope of the original article...Informing yourself of the truth.

You know, this is kind of like watching Fox News...You only get the most extreme views...Not the entire reality.

The reality is that the extreme players had their "earnings" stripped and were given a second, chance...Yes.

Those that purchased the weapons at all were given a suspension...

In only 100 or so EXTREME cases, was the individual banned.

This isn't that hard to understand...On every other vendor in the game, the same item was 20k...Yet, on this vendor alone, it's 2k...Clearly there's an issue.

Those who purchased the items, knew what they were doing, especially considering the amount of items that were purchased AFTER this "bug" went viral.

Everyone who deserves what punishment was levied...and that's that.

This is what happens when you play a game with no sub fee. They already have you're money so their's no need for them to worry about them losing a sub fee biggrin.gif
