Could or is my psu faulty

Hi my sister in laws comp bit the dust playing sims 2. The comp just went off and just before the mouse went off she said.
The graphics card fan died and overheated so I replaced with a gt 210 that was lying around.
When I turn on the comp the CPU light flashes then the ram then nothing for gpu it doesn't run off a pcie cable and I replaced the board CPU n ram and same issue.

So would you suggest a faulty psu. It's a ocz mod extreme 600w.

I do have a thread with more info I'm on my phone do can't link it in.

Thanks for all your help In advance

Well, the mouse issue is quite telling... it can only be the mother board or the PSU... so if you're sure it's not the mother board then you need to get a new PSU.

Sounds like the PSU to me. Can you swap in a known good temporarily?

ive tried 3 diff motherboards so i am going to assume that the psu is the issue. i purchased a 450w from maplins (xfx pro) and it cuts out after 1 sec but runs on paperclip mod, the psu that was powering the comp powers up and stays on

so i got another dud psu.

It really does sound like the PSU, but I would hate to see you not test it to know for sure and then buy a new one and it doesn't fix it.

Can you put the bad system next to your system and stretch the mains and aux cable over to the bad system and jump the start button pins? I have done this before but it depends on the setup of each system if the cables will make it to the other system.

I also keep a low wattage PSU around for testing in these situations.

i did have an old psu but it was broken, i picked up a xfx from a store nearby but it will turn on for a split second. ive got to take mine apart to fit my backplates and stuff so will give it a try, im not off work till wends so will have to wait till then.
and ive got get this one replaced anyways.

a 450w is enough to power a m5a97 and a 720be and gt 210 and 4gb ram n coople fans n hdds isnt it, ive heard people running high powered rigs on slightly bigger

The mouse is fed by the 5V/5VSB rails, so if the electronics failed in a particular order then it's possible your peripherals would stop responding moments before the whole system crushed... on the other hand if it isn't a PSU issue, it can only be a motherboard one, an issue that determined the peripherals to crash first... depending on the motherboard in question, it could be the South Bridge (for example). What I'm trying to tell you is the following... if the mouse stopped responding first... than it's clearly not a RAM/VGA/CPU/etc issue... but a mobo or psu one.
