is the dell i5 still the best value raid card around?

Hello ocn, I been look around for a cheap raid card (around $100) and seen lots of users recommending the dell 5i raid card but it's a pretty old card. Are they any other good value cards at this price range.

If you look hard enough and/or are patient you could likely get a PERC 6/i for around the same sort of money. As hardware RAID cards go though, the PERC 5/i is still very good value.

IBM M1015 cards can be had for around $80. Granted, they only do RAID 1, 0, 10 and they do not have the cache or battery backup, but they are a rebranded LSI 9240- 8i and are great for pass through for use with Unraid, FlexRaid, Snapraid or FreeNAS. They are also 6Gb and support 3Tb drives.

Thanks! How does this compare to the PERC 6i?
