though I find the DA to be a bit on the heavy side , I love the comfort and the sensor. Could the guy pop open his DA and add some weight ?

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but, as a person who owns and uses first generation models of both mice on a daily basis for more than 2 years;

I say this:

The Mamba is a slightly smaller, heavier and wireless version of the Deathadder PERIOD. There are no differences whatsoever noticable concerning tracking in the real world.

For those who have problems with the Mamba's sensor I suggest that you go out and buy a REAL mousepad. It's not the mouse's fault. It's yours...

Well, sensor wise they couldn't be any more different, I own both also. The sensor in the mamba is tailor made for hard pad use and has serious z-axis tracking and acceleration issues in soft pads; this has been documented for quite some time now. For users that want this mouse and don't use hard pads (me) you're stuck with the tracking problems. Since I don't do hard pads, this expensive mouse is basically worthless to me. It's a solid mouse with the best scroll wheel I've tried.

So it's not the issue of getting a 'REAL' pad, since people's views of what a REAL pad is is highly subjective. My choice of what a real pad would be is the artisan hayate, while others will think otherwise. Furthermore, it's certainly not the user's FAULT for using a specific pad, it's their choice. Also is the fact that razer says nothing on the mamba's box that states that the mouse is for hard pad use ONLY.

Absolutely agree. I haven't used Deathadder, but I have used Mamba in wired mode. I got it as a gift and it was absolutely horrible on my cloth pad, so I had to ditch it and didn't use any mousepad at all. And the tracking was really good, when I went back to G5 which I used previously I couldn't believe how garbage the G5's sensor was in comparison (though I believe it was also partially because of the prediction on G5).

So in my experience, I wouldn't worry about the sensor on Mamba AT ALL, as long as you're not using cloth (might not be true for higher-end cloth pads, never owned one). What I would worry about was the durability, my Mamba started having issues after about a year of heavy use (mousewheel issue and more importantly, when holding down left-click it would sometimes stop registering it).

Had Razer Copperhead, move on to Mamba. Looked and felt great, still love it. It however had annoying tracking issues and eventually broke on me (internal right click gone, still usable but no click just a tap of the button plate.) Went to go get a second one, realized the price after getting my second one and returned it to pick up a G500 tongue.gif Needless to say my G500 and G700 excel far beyond the mamba but if you like the aesthetics, charging base, and overall presentation get it. I know it's a dead thread tongue.gif

Also sensor had problematic issues in it on 3 different pads and on solid surface across both mambas I got, so I'd have to disagree with Juzam.

Like I said, I've been using my Mamba on my Mantis Control for more than 2 years now and never EVER had any issue. It is either I am a god or your mice are defective. Simple as that.

Or maybe you have really high tolerance for tracking issues.

Mamba has an accurate sensor. The problem(s) people have relate more or long the lines to surfacing and user expectancies.

The world grew up with cloth pads.. Users adapted to certain play styles.  The newer tech simply isn't optimal for everyone.

Just to keep a dead thread going ill add I've just picked up mamba 2012 elite and coupled with a razer vespula pad had some small issues with tracking. Hard pad with dual aides-on ruff and one smooth. I picked up a madcatz glide7 soft pad (to fix mmo7 tracking issues) and no more trackng issues with either mice.
