Question about loop

post #1 of 9

Hi there guys i am currently running XSPC RASA RX240 KIT. Which comes with a 750L/hr pump.

My current setup is this way
RES/PUMP COMBO -> CPU BLOCK -> RX240 -> RX360 -> RES/PUMP

I think the pump isn't strong enough,because during bleeding it took hell lot of time,as well as when the cpu is overclocked.
I ran the prime95 test and the temperature were like quite bad. Previously running on RX240 were arnd 55C++ full load 100%
Right now,i have added the RX360,expecting to be much better,but sadly it runs around 65C and funny part is that.
It goes like this,1 sec 62C,1sec 63C,1sec 64C,then back to 62C again.

So,what do u guys suggest i should do?

I am planning to either get another XSPC RES/PUMP Combo to boost.
Or...i should get a Laing D5(MCP655) and add it above the RES/PUMP Combo

Your current pump is more than strong enough for that loop, before chucking money at the problem I suggest 1, make sure you got the inlet and outlets the right way round on both pump and CPU. 2, make sure all the air is out by tilting your case around. 3, if neither of those things work re mount your CPU block there could very well be bad contact.

Also what are your settings? What oc you running on that 920? Also what are your ambients? In the UKnow its about 10c cooler than it was just two weeks ago, perhaps your weather's warmed up a bit? Remember even WC is ultimately controlled by your ambients

Hope this helps

Yeah.. i did get the inlets and outlets right though from what i have seen here.
Could it be the loops were too far away or it's like going up?
I don't really like my current setup though since i'm running CM690 only the old ones of course..

The weather lately been quite cold,because its been raining for days over here in malaysia..heehe

Did get all the air come out ... what i did was left the pc bleed itself for few hours before running into that. I'm pretty sure the CPU block has a good contact..because what i did only was ..i added another radiator.

They're quite thick though, and some of my friends mentioned that the pump wasn't good enough.
Heres' what i did right now,

RES/PUMP -> MCP355 -> CPU BLOCK -> RAD RX240 -> RAD RX360 -> RES/PUMP

http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/2241/img4485f.jpg

Sorry,everything is messy,since i haven't confirm which placing i should put.

Any idea where should i put the other RADS eventually? ...or it's killing the flow right now hmm

All you really need is a 240rx for cooling the cpu or 360rx for cooling a gpu and cpu.
You only need one rad for that loop not to two. Just pic one if you are going to add a gpu stick with the 360 rad.
Getting a case that is more suitable for water cooling will help out to.
Case suggestions are in my sig.

The mcp355 is a great pump and it is better than the mcp655. You could sell or keep depending if you want to expand your loop more.

I guess i'll keep the setup then,planning to go for some more WC though..
Btw, i wanted to ask about the placing of the radiator ... which or what place you would think it's better? Hmm

I like my rads to be inside my case for a cleaner look and ease of transport.
