I'm planning on building my first computer, and I'm not sure which graphics card to go with. Beyond that, I'm also not sure which brand of the card to buy. Here are the rest of the parts I'm planning to use, in case it helps makes the decision easier.

Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz 6 MB Cache LGA 1155
Corsair Enthusiast TX V2 Series 850-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified High Performance Modular Power Supply
Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz PC3 240 Pin DIMM Memory
Seagate Barracuda 7200 3 TB 7200RPM SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive
Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" LED LCD Monitor
ASUS Intel Z77 ATX DDR3 2400 LGA 1155 Motherboard
Corsair Obsidian 650D Aluminum Mid Tower ATX Enthusiast Computer Case
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler with Four Direct Contact Heat Pipes
Intel 520 Series Solid-State Drive 120 GB SATA 6 Gb/s 2.5-Inch
Asus 24xDVD-RW Serial ATA Internal OEM Drive DRW-24B1ST

I know that the Radeon HD 7950 has 3GB of video memory as opposed to 2GB in the GeForce GTX 670, but will that make a difference?

At 1900x1200 resolution the 2GB of the GTX 670 will be fine. The 670 beats the 7950 at stock speeds. With a hefty (and I mean hefty) OC the 7950 can keep up and surpass in select titles. Being an owner of the 7950 , I say go with the 670. If you go with the gtx 670, check out reviews for the Zotac Amp! edition 670, it seems to get the highest benchmarks.

Get the HD 7950 OC . best value for your money. Preferably the Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X or Sapphire HD 7950 950 Mhz edition.

these cards hit 1150 Mhz with slight voltage tweaking. Actually the GTX 670 needs higher clocks to match the HD 7950. So HD 7950 (1150) will be on par or slightly faster than GTX 670 (1250) when compared across a wide range of games.

Since they are so close to being equal, I'd get the 7950 due to it being cheaper! biggrin.gif

Either one would be ideal for that resolution. I would just go with which ever one saves you more money. Unless you really are into Physix or play specific Nvidia titles then I don't see the reason to try the 7950 since its usually cheaper.

Unless you really need PhysX, 7950 is better choice because its pretty much equal with GTX 670 when both are overclocked to the max and is cheaper. About rest of your computer, you don't need 850W power supply, a good quality 650W model is enough. Also 3770K doesn't really give any advantage compared to 3570K when gaming, if you are also doing video editing etc. 3770K is better.

Thanks for all of the replies. If I get the Radeon HD 7950, which brand should I get which is around $400 or less? Same for the GeForce GTX 670. It can be slightly more than $400 but not too much. Also, the computer will be used for mainly gaming but also video editing. The reason I chose an 850 watt power supply is so that I have plenty of room to upgrade in the future and it's only about $15 more than a 750 watt.

Raghu already linked these for 7950 suggestions, but as far as the GTX 670 you can get the Gigabyte Windforce for exactly $400 with free shipping off Newegg. It has very quiet fans with a solid GTX 680 PCB and keeps the temps way down. They're also popular because they tend to overclock higher out of the box.
