What is there to be disappointed in? AMD has said multiple times that we should expect a 10-15% IPC improvement with Piledriver and that is what was delivered if the above hardware review is to be believed (assuming it isn't a bunch of bull to bash AMD processors).

I think maybe you were expecting some seriously unrealistic performance improvements out of Piledriver.

Given the expectation is met, I'm rather fond of the improvements. Hopefully AMD will keep launch pricing on par (or lower) than Bulldozer. On top of that, I'm rather hopeful that AMD's Steamroller and Excavator improvements will find their way into desktop parts and won't remain strictly server-side.

Edit: I know Steamroller has been somewhat detailed over the last week, but I've only found one or two hints it will come in both desktop and server parts. I hope this means it will have a desktop part.

He has no evidence that this is true Vishera - but he has a disclaimer:

My suggestion: Wait for true reviews.

as stated about what were you expecting... its not i7 but its dam near close or better to the 2600k-2700k, and even still at its "budget" price point it beats the i7s out in cost.

If Im not mistaken AMD was not even using SeaMicro's fabric until they bought them out earlier this year. Therefore even if this illedged chip is a vishera it could not be the final release as it would not contain the SeaGate fabric. Also take into acount that they have good working piledriver cores in trinity that have better ipc then the given benchmarks, I just can't see this as being the final product.

It was beating out the i7's in some benchmarks (specifically, SB i7's), faster then 8150, and probably going to be $200, I'd call that a win in my book. smile.gif

Who knows, there may be more advancements in the retail chip that aren't in the engineering sample (it is an engineering sample for a reason, it isn't done yet. tongue.gif)
