Piledriver FX-8350 Benchmarks - Page 2

It's faster than a I5 2500k in most cases at stock, needless to say there is no mention of whether they are running the 8 core patch for windows. They are also using much more voltage than my 8120, on air at that voltage a bulldozer would heat up and throttle IMO.

Let's wait for a detailed review showing heat, overclock ability, a stable bios, etc to me this looks promising as we could see games utilising 8 cores soon my 8120 is already brilliant at bf3 with 10 -15% improvement it will be in my pc on launch day.

Pricing will be the key here. My online vendor i use has the 8120@ £119.71 and the 8150@ £146.11. If these prices were 8120@ £100.00 and 8150@ £120.00 i would pick an 8120 up as soon as i could afford it as my AM3 MoBo supports (BETA) the BD chips.

I'm guessing that my X6 would still beat it in most things BUT if it could still out encode the X6 and hold it's own in 1080p single card gaming (not beat just EQUAL the X6) at a clock i could reasonably get the BD to with an H50 i would "side grade" for sure just to have some new tech to play with.

But truthfully AMD users such as myself and any X6 >4ghz users don't really have a decent upgrade path at all. If i want to play with PD i will have to:

1. Hope (and PRAY!!!) ASUS find some way of supporting it on my AM3 MoBo as 890>990 chipsets ain't much and BD worked (PD just a refresh if truth be told) if the price was good i would bite.

2. Pass this rig down/sell some of it and buy a 990xx AM3+ MoBo and get rid of a damn good X6 for what might turn out yet to be a another "side grade" OR EVEN DOWNGRADE! if you include costs incurred. Wheres my upgrade path AMD make it "worth my while" but imho i don't think it will be. I would love an 8 core CPU and some faster DDR3 to go with it but my old rig may yet at least equal your unreleased tech in some things!!

Thanx.
