The mpaa is evil and regularly purchases politicians to do their bidding, doesn't mean these people weren't thieves though.

The Mpaa is like the pinkerton detective agency from back in the day. They don't stay within the law to enforce the law, cross them and they might jack you up by whatever means necessary.

They actually commit crimes themselves when they monitor peoples internet connections etc.

Except that he is right they charge ridiculous prices and besides batman they haven't put out a good movie recently. I payed $15 to see batman at the Carnegie science center omnimax and it was worth every penny.

Point is they cry about declining profits but all they do is put out remakes of stuff now a days and the remakes are worse than the originals usually. They only wait like 10 years to do a remake some times now haha they are so desperate.

If you put out a good movie people will pay to go see it I wouldn't even pirate 99.9% of the movies Hollywood puts out if I did pirate stuff.

If you want Hollywood to put out a good movie, then stop watching their crap until they do. And I'm not talking about just shifting over to pirated stuff, TOTALLY stop watching ALL movies. Follow this up with a letter. Not only to MPAA, but the movie studios, but more importantly, to major advertisers in movies ... Coke, Pepsi, AT&T, Apple, etc.

But ultimately just because you think that someone is charging "too much" for something does NOT give you the right to STEAL IT ... and try to justify to yourself by saying "The movie is so-so, I'd pay $8 to see it, but not $15, so instead I'll just take it and pay $0 for it."

That would be like me walking into a Ferrari dealership and say "I'll give you $25,000 for F12berlinetta." and when they say "Sorry, it costs $330,000." and you just go out and steal one instead.

We all will only pay to watch a movie after seeing a trailer we liked, they should release a movie and if more people pirate it than go too see it, then the movie should be classed as a bad and the director should never make a movie again.

Obviously I'm joking but I can't deny I've watched a film uploaded online and if it was rubbish, not bought it and tried too erase it from my mind, but I've also watched a film online and loved it so much I went too the cinema too see it and bought it on Blueray when it came out. If I hadn't have seen it online I would never have spent money on it (maybe on DVD in a few years from ebay for 99p where they would have received none of my money)

Piracy ≠ Stealing.

A pirate infringes on the copyright protection but does not actually steal the product.

This would be like walking into a Ferrari dealership and saying "I'll give you $25,000 for [car]." and when they say "Sorry, it costs more than that." You go out make an exact copy of that Ferrari and then drive away with the copy car. The original car is still at the dealership and was not stolen.

It is in fact illegal to copy the car or a movie, but it is not theft.

Don't you hardcore advocates argue that it's playing with semantics.

theft - the act of stealing; the wrongful taking and carrying away of the personal goods or property of another; larceny.

Again, a pirate is not carrying anything away.

There is a big difference between IP and physical property.

I personally don't have an issue with overpriced movies or music because that is largely what I consider to be garbage (have been completely avoiding purchasing or taking any of it in for over a decade). The consumer is easy to blame, but the industry is shamelessly vile. The thing that does bother me is that everyone else DOES watch their crap, so by avoiding it all I'm doing is removing myself from the equation and not making any impact on the crap.

Playing devils advocate
But the dealship lost out on a pontential sale therefore it must have been stealing.
