Gigabyte AMD 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard Overheating? - Page 2

Ok so I took every heat sink off my motherboard and cleaned them with alcohol and then re applied pasted to the north bride and south bridge so I played crysis warhead for a few hours and my CPU temp maxed at 74C or 164F and my north bridge maxed at 84C or 183F these temps seem more reasonable for stock cooling. and I'm idling at 20C or 68F on the CPU. I guess I had bad factory paste on my board but everything seems to be working fine, I'm still going to play GTA IV again and make sure the game isn't running my computer to death

That's still too hot. From what I read the CORE temp shouldn't go over 61C for 8120. You're at 74C. Still WAY TOO HOT. What case are you using? How is the airflow setup? Also there isn't a NB sensor. What you're seeing is CPU SOCKET temp.

I replaced all the thermal paste even on my video card, which surprisingly looked clean but had some dust under the cooler.

If those max temps are while gaming then it is much better.

It happened to my this week twice playing Bioshock 3. So I opened the computer and touch all the parts and when I touched the NB it was on fire, I even burn my finger tips. So I dissemble the motherboard and took out the NB and I found direct contact between the chip and the heatsink. I cleaned the paste and putt new paste Artic Silver 5 and problem resolved. This board it has been in use over 4,000 hours plus I use it for gaming and 1080p rendering and editing videos. I have a FX-8120 OC @ 4.5GHz with 32GB on RAM 1600MHz Corsair Vengance and a H100 push pull system for the CPU. The CPU never goes over 41C on full load.

Hello, i have the same Mobo and FX-8350.
first time i was experiencing overheat, and not knowing what to do, i asked for RMA. they sent me new mobo and new processor, and still, temps wouldnt stop going high!
so i started to mess around and using the coolerbox, get to this results:

played Battlefield3 for a couple hours

and this after a small stress

if i kept the stress going, TPIN1 temperatures (as what i have come to realise its motherboar) wont stop going high! and thats not even 2min of stress.

i think ill try to replace the heatsinks with new thermal paste.

but how about TPIN0? anyone knows whats that about?
