Question about MDPC wire clamps and compatible screws - Page 2

To secure the clamp i also use M3x6mm screws, i do also use the washers bought @ MDPC-X.

I drill a 2,5mm hole, in the motherboard plate, then tap it with an M3 tap, set the clamp with cables up against the hole, and screw it in. Works like a charm every time smile.gif

Hey guys,

Here are the screws I bought (m3x6):

Here's a pic for comparison with Nils's screw:

Does Nils give it any special treatment? I'm pretty convinced it's exactly the same screw, including the finish. When I look at the screw I got here it has this nice matte finish on it, maybe it's anodized or something.

He goes to great length to make sure they are still a bit oily (tad bit glossy) and not scratched up. Other then that its a screw like all the rest.

For future reference, screws, metric or SAE(american) are all measured from the bottom of the head to the end of the screw. The size or length of the head is never considered. And, as some of you know, not everyone is accurate in their measurements. 5.76mm is not 6mm just like 1.5" x 3.5" is not a 2" x 4" but the industry is able to get legislation passed to allow it.

I went back to the hardware store yesterday and got me the same screws just longer, M3x8. Now I can fully reach the motherboard stand off threads:

With the Brainwasher and everything it just looks great!

That looks great adi518 wink.gif

However, some (if not all) of the motherboard screws are used as a direct contact to the case. I don't know whether it's a good idea to not connect them.

It's grounding yes. However, I've seen many rigs bulit like this so maybe it's not a big issue. ;|~

Edit: I have these nice black washers I can use beneath the clamp, I believe that should solve the grounding issue.
