x1950pro perfromance issues

I cant seem to get COD2 to run properly. Every time I start a new level t runs really sluggish. I mean running like at 15fps and maxing only at 30fps. Its weird beacuse there are times it runs great getting around 50fps but than as a new level starts it begins to run like crap. m only playing at 1280x1024 resolution with a few settings on so any help would be appreciated.

Thx

Sounds like either a Game bug ir a driver problem. Do the following:

1. Get the latst game updates for COD2
2.Reinstall the latest G-card driver and follow these instructions :

Installing Graphic card driver efficiently!!! When you Update your graphics cards drivers theres ways that you should go about it. Follow these simple steps below.

1.Download and install ''Driver Cleaner'' Here:
http://www.drivercleaner.net/professional.html
2.Uninstall your Current Display drivers such as your ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia'' drivers.
3.Now run ''Driver cleaner'' and depending on the Drivers you have you will have to select either ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia'' from the drop down menu. Only select the main title of the driver in the drop down such as just ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia''
4.Once you have selected Your driver click on the ''Start'' button and this will now start the driver cleaning process. ( Do this twice to be sure )
5.Now reboot your system and Download the latest Nvidia or ATI and go ahead and install them.

Doing this avoids driver corruption and conflicts so you can now enjoy smooth gameplay.

I think you have a driver problem.
Which drivers are you running?
I recommend the special X1950 Pro drivers.
They can be downloaded from ATI's driver download site.
I really believe this will resolve this problem.

One other thing, what video card did you have installed prior to the X1950 Pro?

I did install the drivers from ATI's site. I even reformatted my hard drive prior to installing the drivers. I even tried catalyst 6.9 drivers which came whith the driver installation cd. Still does it so I cant figure out what the problem is

Go to this thread:
http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers...s-own-1-a.html

You will find all of the drivers that you're looking for to run the x1950pro. I use the Warcat 7.4 (driver only, no CCC) and ATI Tray Tools for the overclock. My card runs rock solid at 655core/817mem (HIS IceQ3 model) and I get about 160 fps in Couterstrike: Source stress test. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

The driver version isn't the problem here, I'm afraid.

For example, F.E.A.R. runs on my system at 60fps average on 1600x1200x32 with all settings to the max. But only Call of Duty 2 is slow. There is even no noticeable improvement if I compare the performance of my new X1950Pro versus my old 9800XT. There should be, though, in my humble opinion.

What should I do to make CoD2 run as fast as all other games on my system.

Is the 1GB memory to blame for this issue?

Maybe something else on your computer is limiting you on that game, I don't know. With my 256MB X1950 Pro (also the HIS ICEQ3 model), I get a constant 40fps to 45fps at 1440x900 with everything (except AA and AAF) cranked up to full. That's with 4xAA and 8xAAF (well, maybe it's the other way round, I get the two mixed up when I don't look at which is which).
