Zalman ZM-MIC 1 (Poor quality)

I just got a Zalman ZM-MIC 1 after hearing about how great it was however it doesn't pick up very well and there is static in the background.

Could it be that I got a faulty mic?

Or is this normal?

Not normal. It should pick up your voice fine if it is close to the top of your headphone cord. Look through your audio and mic settings for a mic booster or input volume. I don't use onboard audio so I can't tell you specifics but if it is still not working correctly after that, then it is probably faulty.

Yeah, it's definitely faulty then, I'll send it back.

Thanks
