for me i'm more like the opposite of the graph. when i was a kid i was like
"i have a computer and it works"
nowadays i spend so much time looking at computer parts, reviews, and benchmarks that i know a bit of everything. rolleyes.gif

I think that since computers are so powerful now most people can get a $400 computer and have their needs met. Also cell phone, smart phones, and other junk perform the same needs mobilely that most people want. And its "cool" to have the newest overpriced apple trash or w/e so you can show it off and think its some accomplishment to own something, so the vast majority of idiots buy into that.

Also gaming is in a massive downard spiral of greed and generic uninspired crap that isnt worth playing, and often held back by consoles. I used to greatly enjoy many games, now I rarely find an even decent game, better off emulating an old game on PC or replaying a good title free than buying into more crap. I actually feel like its time to take another break from gaming for a few years and then come back and get the good games cheap and run them on full settings.

Well it's a bad time to lose interest in computers because graphics tech is still accelerating and we've almost hit the bounds of photorealism (yes I know that doesn't make a good game, but still).

The prospect of upgrading to a GTX780 and making the switch to watercooling is going to keep my interest, it's an exciting hobby!

Wouldn't very sites like these play apart in this. I mean how many members do we have? All of which who are active would come straight to here for any queries. Or am i missing something here?

I think interest in desktops has perhaps decreased, but laptops are still quite popular. I think laptops are kind of the new desktops. And smartphone interest is still growing exponentially (and smartphones are pcs in the sense of personal computers).

The galaxy note really appeals to me. It has all the sort of casual effectiveness of a touch screen (like when you need to quickly flip it and and do something) combined wih the precision of a stylus. I think styluses and the fact that android is becoming a more and more fully "complete" os will mean a mobile experience that is much closer to the traditional desktop experience in the near future, at least in terms of capabilities etc. I see the future being powerful, very portable devices that are connected to larger screens (and better input devices) at home.

The larger and larger phone screens also mean greater potential for an absolutely portable desktop experience. The only prolem i can see is that this kind of clashes with the trend toward skinny jeans. Oh well, if phones are thin enough i guess it probably wont matter lol

The reason is simple, because you have grown older.
