How big a PSU?

First off, I apologize in advance if a similar issue has been addressed, but I've been away from the forums for a bit and I'm feeling a little to lazy to dig.

My question is what would be the best PSU for what I'm planning?

My current rig has a 3770K on an ASRock Fatal1ty mobo, 16 GB of RAM and I'm planning on getting SLI GTX 670 4 GB cards with my next paycheck.

I already did the PSU calculator and my current 750 W PSU can manage the load the new cards will bring, but what I can't figure out, and mainly because I can't find them on the PSU calculator sight (or I don't know the equivalent), is I'm planning on doing a dual loop water cool configuration; so two pumps along with another 3 fans for one of the radiators. The pumps I was looking at are the EK DCP 4.0 Pump/Reservoir combos.

I was looking at just biting the bullet and getting the AX1200, but I'm wondering if I could get away with a lesser PSU, like an 850, or maybe just 1000?
I was looking at the Seasonic Platinum 1000W as well, but I'm hitting a wall with all the research I can do on my own.

1200?!?!?!? Dude, your electricity bill will be more expensive per month that the actual computer is!

I have an 850 and it is still overkill. For 670 SLI 800 would do fine, but most don't come like that so just get 850.

riiight.. your psu wattage output has absolutely nothing to do with you bill.

850w would be fine go for a nice solid 850w psu or heck even keep your 750 assuming it is of a good quality.

Well according to the PSU calculator, SLI 670s on air with my current rig and a year old PSU is pushing it to its limit.

PSU size has no impact on electricity bill. Big Shabazz, you can run that rig on the X 750 you have now easily.

Says the person who's rig has a 1000W PSU tongue.gif

I'm not really concerned with the power bill, because that's probably going to be my largest expense as far as that's concerned. I just don't want to have the thing crap out on me while I'm in the middle of something.

Explain to me how it doesn't effect the bill because I am tired of getting yelled at for the bill being my fault it is so high.

^This.

What you have there is a 550W system at full load, your current PSU is already overkill.

Your computer only draws the power it needs. That's how electricity works. With a 200w or 1000w power supply, if its the same build. The power draw will be the same.
It only takes what it needs from the wall. Now if one had a better efficiency, that's different.

You're power supply will only draw how much is needed from the wall. If you're computer only needs 500 watts to run at full load then your power supply will only draw 500watts plus a tiny bit more since energy conversion isn't perfect.
