1st Build Log / Watercooling

*This is my attempt at a build log and I apologize in advance for the tacky lackluster way it will probably turn out

This is my first attempt at a build log and watercooling loop. Some of the parts and components i have already have and others have been purchased from eBay or Newegg. I guess the first order of business should be the parts list.

CPU - AMD 1100T - eBay $168.00
Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth 990FX - Newegg $ 154.99 *promotional gift card
Memory - GSkill Ripjaws X 2133 - $64.99 - Newegg
GPU - Powercolor PCS+ 6970 - $178.00 - eBay
SSD - Vertex 4 128gb Sata III - $79.99 - Newegg
HDD - WD Caviar Blk. 1tb Sata II - $99.99 - Bestbuy ( 3 years ago)
PSU - Seasonic X 750w Gold - $ 109.99 - Newegg
DVD - Lg 24x Supermulti - $ 18.99 - Newegg
OS - Windows 7 Pro - $119.99 - Newegg

CPU Block - XSPC Raystorm - $49.99 - Sidewinder
Pump - DangerDen D5 fixed speed - $ 40.50 - eBay
Reservoir - XSPC Acrylic Dual Bay for 1 D5 - $18.50 - eBay
Radiators - 2x 120mm Swiftech w/ 4 DD Fatboy 1/2" fittings - $15.50 - eBay
- XSPC RX360 - $48.00 - eBay
- Swiftech 240 QP - $26.00 - eBay
Fittings - 4 XSPC lowpro 1/2" compression - $ 20.00 - eBay
Tubing - 10' Tygon S-50-HL Surgical - $17.90 - eBay
Fans - 15 Delta WFB1212h 120mm 3pin - $35.00 - eBay

This is what I have bought so far. I still need a waterblock for the cpu and one for the gpu. I also would like to get 2- 360 rads, a fan controller, and will probably need some more fittings when i go to lay it all out. I should have a complete list in the next week or so. rolleyes.gif

Now for the case. I have an old Antec server case a friend gave me, but he can't find one of the side panel. I've been contemplating doing something with that, but think I'm going to go with a custom built- in desk in order to fit all the components and do a little noise control on the Deltas. I'm thinking a corner unit with two side cabinets with the components in one of the cabinets. I'll try to get some pics on here as soon as i can and will try to add some renderings from sketch up. My occupatation as a welder/fabricator and previous woodworking experience should help, but I'm sure I'll benefit from input and help along the way! thumb.gif

Here's afew photos to wet the whistle.

The pump, tubing, fittings, and fans are bought and should arrive this week.

So i thought I'd upload a nightstand i made for my daughter a few years ago to give an example of some of the work I can do. Hard white maple with rosewood inlays, flame maple top and drawer face, danish oil and whitewash finish.

Once i find the usb cord for my camera , i'm hoping for better photos!
I think I'm going to use a veneered plywood and frame it in hardwood. Hope to post Sketch up renderings soon.

I snagged a Swiftech 240 rad and a XSPC RX360 rad on ebay. I was hoping for 2 360's, Oh well, what I have going on is way overkill anyways! Next step is to receive all items and test with DI water before making any concrete plans for them. Neat trick I learned for used rads - you know their going to have some bent fins, so I carefully used a set of tweezers on one of the 120mm rads and viola, good as new. The other rad had a 3/4" strip of bent fins that were almost beyond repair, not good as new, but functional. Who's comp;laining I got both for $15.50! I'm going to get a strip of 24ga. stainless at work and seen how that does realigning fins. Chances are the 240 or 360 will have some sort of fin repair to be done. For 50% under new cost and functionality, I can live with it. Who's gonna be taking a magnifying class to my rads anyways. Me! tongue.gif

Last major piece of hardware will be the waterblocks. Probably get the cpu first and then gpu. Who knows I may get a better deal on a newer gpu with waterblock, before all is said and done. Also need a fan controller.

Thanks. Have an excellent supply of quality harwwoods in the area. Well I received A Laing D5, 10' of Tygon and 4 sets of XSPC blk. nickel compression fittings. Still waiting on The 240mm rad and Delta fans.I mounted the pump to the res and did a test run on the pump with some cheap Home Depot 1/2'X 3/4" tubing. No leaks and the pump is strong and silent.
