1-2 year later I think we need to buy 1000+ W PSU for new video cards to just run SLI or CF.
Anything anyone says about the r600 is either a lie or a rumour, nobody really knows anything about it

Power consumption to performance is actually going down (or up?), g80 is a perfect example of that

Edit: "performance per watt" not "Power consumption to performance" o_O

ATI83: just wait it out.... it's all rumors. The 8800 also is less powerhungry than the initial rumors indicated.

Wait until the cards are here... then make your decision..

I am waiting also (although a 3,500 mile move has some influence on that )

How do you guys get 50 amps out of the 4 18 amp 12volt rails on the GXS 700watt? 18x4=72, no?

No, the 18a number is only the max that it could provide. In RL the number for those rails is lower, the GXS doesn't have an independent 12v rail so it has to share the 680w with the +3.3 and +5v rails

Plus, the 18A is the limit one single rail can deliver. Check my FAQ on this. The 12V rails often share a single source, and most always the total max load on the rails is less than the sum of the individual rails

I am running an OCZ GameXStream 700 Watt in a P180b and it fits like it was made for the case. The PSU fits flush with the mounting bracket, leaving plenty of room for the cables. The most problematic scenario for this case, is when you have a 4 or 8 pin socket on the upper left of the motherboard, as found on many ASUS boards. In such a case, you will need a minimum of 21" on your 4/8 pin 12V lead. This will allow you to snake the lead under the leading edge of the PCI/vid cards, to reach the plug. In the case of the OCZ, the lead is 21" and so is a perfect fit.

As for the PSU, it is the best one I have ever used - cool stable and powerful. I considered a PCP&C, but the thought of that much money for a Zippy PSU...

Anyway, OCZ + P180b = Perfect fit.
