H80 or This?

Thread Starter
Hi Guys I am a noob when it comes to watercooling. Please see my sig rig for specs, I currently have a h60 and it cools my 8120 upto 4.6ghz any thing over that and I get to the 62 degrees that these chips don't like. I have been looking on my local websites and I have found something that has made me think of doing a full loop rather than a closed corsair loop, do you guys think the below link will be any good? or would an H80 do the same thing? or will neither cope rying to get a 8120 up to 5ghz stable.

I like the idea of the pump/ reservoir combo thing because it looks like I can slot it in to a dvd drive bay?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

All that looks to be a is a third party person building their own XSPC Rasa Kit. In your position this kit will give you better performance but I'd recommend if your case can support (which it can) look into a XSPC Rasa 750 with a RS 240 Rad, that will yield you the best performance than just this kit.

But that kit is a good start with everything you need and pretty good quality parts for a first time full loop

EDIT: This kit because of the res will yield better cooling but cooling is all based in the size of your rad, if you looking to cool more, get more rad space like a RS 240

Here is an RS 240 kit: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-156-XS&groupid=962&catid=1532&subcat=
This should be sufficient to meet the overclock your looking for

If you can stretch your budget alittle more you could get an even better thicker rad and get the RX 240: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-158-XS&groupid=962&catid=1532&subcat=

I could stretch to that no probs, how does it work in terms of the radiator, will it go where the big exhaust fan is or can it go where the "secret" tool box is? Also can I run push pull or if it goes where the exhaust fan is do I just run it in an exhaust mode?

Are you using the multi to oc if so use a tad of FSb to try get higher. And what voltage you using, the h80 will only be 2-3 better than the 60

yeah I'm just using the multi, voltage at 1.38, northbridge at 1.28 I'll try up the fsb and see where that takes me, but I think I am set on a better loop...

It will either go on top

index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=12502

OR on the bottom

index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=12501

And yes push pull gives the best cooling in a radiator

The 1st combo waterloop has a 120mm radiator.

You'll need a 240mm rad to cool the cpu with worth while temperatures.

txtrkandy gave a couple of good suggestions.

One other alternative is waiting for the Cooler Master Eisberg, rumor is that it's already out in Europe... (though I haven't been able to verify this myself).

I believe that the RASA might be better... but I will be waiting for reviews myself. Good luck to you thumb.gif
