As a general rule, don't use them.

They separate and clog/gunk up the blocks. Also, some blocks (EK, I think) have their warranty voided if you use dyes/premix. If you want colours, use coloured tubing with distilled water and a killcoil, can't go wrong. Better colours, no gunk. thumb.gif

Actually, using a Kill coil will void your warranty on EK stuff.

Mayhems have a great line of coolants with dyes in them. So far they're the best you can buy.

I'm currently running Mayhems Extinction Green Aurora in my show PC without issue. Aurora isn't a 24/7 coolant though.

If you have any questions about Mayhems Dyes or coolants, head over to the Mayhems clubs, we'll happily help.

I've used all sorts of dyes and coolants. So far I've used Mayhems X1 coolant for months without issue. Blocks are clean and ready to go after a coolant change.

Turning your computer on will void the warranty on an EK block.

OT: I've used some middle of the road dye, and though I had no issue for about 2 years, after that point it started to gunk up and get nasty. I don't know if well known dyes will buy you more time or if they wont gunk up at all.

I personally have not used dyes. I have used silver and PTnuke with distilled water. I can say after a couple years my setup looks like it is a couple years old now. It certainly would not impress people today as much as the 1st day it was up and running. I have recently pulled everything apart and looked around the loop. There is some very light build up in the loop, but really everything is actually still very clean.

Now if you don't mind cleaning your loop once or twice a year, you may not ever see any build up. Personally, I have better things to do with my time, so all I do is add water when needed. biggrin.gif

Another guy willing to vouch for Mayhem's. I'm using the Pastel Green and while it's still early on you can do a simple google search to see what reviewers are saying about Mayhem's products. Aurora looks fantastic (though it's really more for show systems not 24/7), and Pastel honestly can't be beat in the dye market for being safe to the loop vs competitors.

Just an off topic question, why isn't Aurora a 24/7 dye?
/offtopic

I've heard many good things about Mayhems, not about any other dyes though.
