Huh. I never had that problem. I think I run my A10-5700 at 1.15V, and the board came with 1.10 BIOS. I upgraded to 1.80.

Welp, tried turning up the NB to 2800MHz, which I took from a GSkill guide to overclocking (Memory Speed * 3/2 = NB Speed). Turned up the NB voltage to 1.265, booted fine. Then I set the RAM to 1866, manually overrode timings with the 1600 defaults (which are quite relaxed; many people have overclocked this ram to 1866 with tighter timings than the stock 1600 timings), and it wouldn't boot.

New idea- what about the HT frequency? I don't remember ever seeing that in the BIOS, can we set it? Does it matter?

Edit: wait, now I'm reading that Trinity doesn't have hypertransport. That would explain why there are no HT settings

Honestly I have no idea.

On my crusade for the search on the FSB wall for this board, I saw on Xtremesystems that some people also had problems with Samsung sticks not booting at 1866 no matter what.

If I were you, I'd sell them and get some 1866/2133 rated RAM.

By the way, mind testing if you can boot the system at anything higher than 105MHz FSB? My system cannot right now, and sucks because I can't even reach 2GHz memory speed.

Eh, rather than sell them I'd probably just throw em in my desktop, and have 16GB there biggrin.gif I'll wait a bit though. Still undecided on whether I'll keep this board, and if I get another board maybe the RAM will work better.

Do you know of any 1866/2133 RAM that is as low profile as the Samsung stuff? The low voltage and low profile are the biggest reason I got these sticks. My HTPC's CPU heatsink encroaches on the RAM space.

I'll try playing w/ the FSB, but I'm not quite sure I understand why you are in the first place?

Heh probably yeah. For the price you could sell them, just toss them in the desktop smile.gif

Crucial is about to release a Ballistix Sport LP 1600 kit, but I'm not sure about the performance. If it uses the same Samsung chips (most probably it does, 1.35V stuff as well), then no dice. Don't regular 'low' profile sticks fit? Because if they do, all of the GSkill stuff rated 1866 and beyond does indeed run at that speed. Besides the dreaded 2133MHz.
Well, in fact, my Ares 2133 sticks do run at 1940MHz on CL8-9-9 with 1.625V.

Because since setting manual 2133 speed in the BIOS doesn't work, I'm trying to play with the FSB instead to at least reach 2GHz... frown.gif

Hmm, well it looks like NewEgg is having a sale on just the right sticks...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460

And, I think I have space, IF I orient my CPU cooler the right direction.

Edit: Ugh, sold out already! Maybe I shouldn't have posted the link rolleyes.gif

Ok, I pushed up my FSB and it stopped POSTing at 109MHz. I think I had my northbridge voltage at 1.10V, but I have no idea if that matters.

Edit: Oh, wait, I forgot the FSB pushes up RAM speed. I was set to 1600@1.35v, I may need to push up the RAM voltage as it would have been operating at 1744. I'll play with that in a bit.

P.S. Don't' know if I can help you get past 2000 as I still haven't even POSTed with 1866

Very muchas gracias Sir biggrin.gif

109 FSB speed yields me... 2033MHz wheee.gif

Can't wait to fire this thing again!

By the way, these are my babies: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231554

Heard that the 1866 CL9 orange Ares sticks do rather decent at 1.6ish volts, hitting 2GHz no problems on stock timings.
