It's here, thanks to an early shipment out of Taiwan!!!! thumb.gif

Long busy day ahead though, this has got to wait till after the local Asus-Nvidia meet so prob. will be tomorrow for some hands on action... smile.gif

If a motherboard has no Bios options for overclocking ,can you overclock through the OS and if yes why would you think that this is not a good idea?

I would predict that Richland will be a speed step (or half) faster than the 5xxx series. So maybe 100-200MHz faster on the CPU side with maybe a 5% efficiency increase on top of that.
Some people are saying that it will have a step up on the DDR3 controller to 2133. That won't help much except on the GPU side of things.
As for the GPU, I doubt it will have 512 cores as it is still a 32nm chip. It is interesting that they are calling it an 8xxx series though, so who knows? Pretty sure GCN wasn't till the Steamroller (is it next?) based APUs come out. So I'll predict that the new Richland GPUs are just faster clocked versions of the current 7xxx. Added together with a 2133 controller I'm thinking about a 15% increase.
Man I'm really pissed that by the time a decent itx MB comes out an updated APU will be right behind it! Been staring at my 5700 for almost 2 months now...

2133mhz would help the GPU significantly though, i think im hitting a memory bandwidth wall atm with stock 1866mhz sticks. once i move my clocks above 980mhz on the GPU my 3d mark scores dont improve at all no matter the GPU clocks i throw at it, even at 1050mhz

Got back a little late from the Asus-Nvidia meet so decided to spend just a little time setting up the test rig and got down to a little clocking and some video transcoding to feed the iPhone/Galaxy Note II, it's already 3am over here now.... Zzzzzz.

Seems to have a fair bit of vdroop but both transcoding jobs completed successfully with good results. smile.gif

MacClipper,
Please verify the most important thing regarding the new ASRock 85 ITX board. Does sitting idle in the BIOS screen at stock settings catch the board on fire? Or, barring that it doesn't catch on fire, does it draw an unusual amount of power/heat in the BIOS?
Also, please send me one if it does not! smile.gif

Yeah its dropping to 1.4 like my FM2a75m-itx. Usually happens when the NB vrm gets hot.

Just when i get ready to start ordering for my build, i cant find any of the MSI ITX boards around. I hope those get stocked soon, or if this new asrock board is any good, maybe ill go for that instead.

No kidding. I'm very upset about the Giga board. There is not a single ITX board with a m-PCIx now. I was about to break down and buy the MSI (if I could find one). And *** is with Zotac only having the A55 board out?! Why would anyone bother with an A55 chipset?!
Now my only hope is the 85 ASRock, so I'll try to wait out for it. Hopefully MacClipper can make me confident to take the ASRock plunge again.
