im currently in the process of figuring out how i want to mod my lian li htpc case.. all im looking to do is prolly blu-ray/dvd playback and web browsing honestly.. maybe do school work on it and will have lots of storage smile.gif but it will be going to be connected to prolly a projector and will have sorround sound.. oh will prolly stream games and movies via netflix/hulu

ive been wanting to wait until trinity comes out because im spending money on mods/add-ons right now and when i get enough funds maybe it will be out.. just dont wanna waste money where its not needed.

Llano would honestly do everything you need with for a htpc. Save yourself some money and go with that. I'd recommend trinity only if you planned on gaming as well.

No. There are some things llano is still just as good as cpu side.See the toms hardware article where they compare them.
If you don't need the moderately better graphics an a10 will provide, or are really aiming for low power use, then I would grab the good deals on the 3870k/fm1 boards. The 3870k's oc decent on both the cpu/gpu if you needed to get a little more out of it as well.
A trinity will OC higher, (CPU) based on the TH review, and since its BD/PD based, kinda a given. No gpu side oc done, since the bios wasn't fully ready and didn't have that option.

wrong advice for 1 VERY important reason, "ability to upgrade" , if he goes Fm1, that socket is allready DEAD, someone just needs to pull the life support plug... biggrin.gif

Eh, that would be the only real reason wait and then spend more. But, not everyone upgrades every year, or needs to. FM2 only has 1 confirmed upgrade too, Kaveri. So why do people buy intels at all if they like to change sockets all the time?

So llano is good/cheap and do the job fine while knowing fm1 is a dead platform.

Trinity will be great/and have at least one chance of getting an upgrade, but costing more and waiting at least a month.
