670 FTW with "The Mod" Questions

Thread Starter
So I have searched and searched, and I cant quite seem to find pictures of anybody with a 670 FTW with the Antec 620 mod done to it.
I was reading over the Bracket Thread by Dwood and saw some people saying they did it, but nobody with pictures.

So what I really want to know, If I want to do this mod, can I keep using the Stock FTW fan, or will I need to get a 92mm Fan. I have read that the stock fan is mounted to the shroud?

Any pictures of someone with this done already would really be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Look for people who have done it to the gtx 680. Same PCB as the 670 FTW edition. Now I'm pretty sure when doing the mod to the 670 FTW edition you have to remove the heatplate because the gpu doesn't sit high enough when installing the Antec cooler using Dwoods bracket. So you want be able to keep the stock fan on there.

Here's a picture of Dwoods GTX 680 with the mod done to it. You have to remove the heatplate

I just did mine yesterday man. Here you go.
I would honestly just get the 92mm fan to go with it. Messing with the stock fan won't yield as good of results.

Thanks man! Seeing it helps, I was a little worried the stacked power connector would get in the way. What temps are you pulling now?

I remounted the 620 a couple time so these temps might be high. This was after applying with the thermal paste that came with the 620: 33c on idle, 58-60 on load (BF3 is all I've played really) I did play some HL2 E2 in Nvidia Surround and that got me up to 55c. I'm literally about reapply the paste and see if my temps get any better. I'll post here with an update.

Yeah that doesn't sound quite right, I run around 65 Under load with my tweaked fan profile. I would expect more out of the water cooler.

I just re-applied. It's going to take a little bit to settle. I'll fire up bf3 real quick and play a round and get back to you. BTW my card runs hotter than most. On 80% fan I was just keeping under 68-70c. Ambient ~ 78f.

sweet ive been looking for a thread like this.
im going to be switching out my 660ti for a 670 ftw fairly soon.
i modded my 660ti and took it to 1275mhz but
the memory bandwidth and ROP hit is just too great.
hoping i can re-use my same dwood bracket =D
anxious to see results in here.
