Looking for high quality 16 gauge wire for power supply.

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be making my own cables and sleeve them with MDPC-X sleeving and was just wondering where I might find some tough high quality 16 gauge wire with a tough durable insulation that doesn't slide off the conductor easily, does anyone know where I might find some quality 16 gauge wire? Only place that has 16 gauge wire is FrozenCPU, I just don't know if it's high quality or not, made in China go figure.

Much appreciated!

check your home improvement stores for bulk rolls would be my advice. i can't remember what the difference is in wire, strands and thickness?

I would try someplace like Digi-Key is the only one I can think of of the top of my head.

System, walk into any of these places.... CED, Grainger, Essco, Greybar, or any other electrical wholesaler near you.

Thanks guy's,

I went to The Home Depot today and the smallest they had was 14 gauge wire which I brought home and it was way to thick especially for the connectors! I went to Grainger's website and there's just too much stuff to sort through, I'll call them tomorrow because their website is to darn difficult to navigate, all I want is multi-stand 16 gauge wire.

I would get this wire:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003HGHPQ6/ref

It's AWG 18, but it's definitely easier to sleeve with than AWG 16, due to it being thinner. This stuff is a breeze to make your wires with.

I don't want 18 gauge, MDPC-X sleeving fits 16 gauge wires much better, the 16 gauge wire is closer in diameter to the MDPC-X sleeving which makes it easier to stretch the sleeving very tight. With 18 gauge wire you must painstakingly pull very hard to get the sleeving tight, that's why I'm pulling the insulation off the actual wire core.

I have wasted 62 feel of MDPC-X sleeving do to this garbage 18 gauge junk! The only reason why power supply manufactures use it so they can insert two 18 gauge wires into one ATX or PCIe pin and then into the connector, it would be impossible to have two 16 gauge wires into 1-pin!
