Need help choosing Case, really stuck. CoolerMaster HAF XM, Storm Trooper or NZXT Switch 810? - Page 4

I just had a look at the Corsair case and I must say that it looks like quite a nice case overall.

I like that you can remove the side panel window and replace it with a mesh side panel that supports 4 x 120mm fans. I think that is a great idea and more cases should come with this feature if you ask me, would be a great alternative if you ever needed better cooling to the VGA area of the case.

I agree with Evilsplashy though about the other cases still being better overall cases. Really do like the Corsair case though.

Yeah it's a great case overall. I miss the easy side panel removal the most. I'll sell you mine if you're interested. 100 bucks great condition I understand if you want brand new though.

Thanks for the offer, unfortunately I am in Australia so it wouldn't be doable. I'd also like to go with the Silver version if I were to ever buy this case.

Hey guys, just sold my second rig to a friend and I need to get a new Case as I already have all the components to build a system except a Case. The Case I was using was the original CoolerMaster 690 with a side panel window. I'm going to have a 3770K in this rig with a Noctua NH-D14 cooling it, so I need good clearance on the side for the Noctua.
My main system is in an HAF X so I am kind of used to CoolerMaster Cases.
What I am looking for in a new Case are these features :
-Good Air Cooling as ambient temps can get quite warm here
-At least 8 PCI expansion slots
-Case that can fit E-ATX sized Mother boards in it
-Dust filters would be good, but not a big deal as I can take it outside every few months and blow out the dust with a Air Compressor that has a Air Regulator/Moisture filter installed
Cases I am currently looking at are as follows with Australian pricing in brackets - CoolerMaster HAF XM ($150), CoolerMaster Stormtrooper ($189), NZXT Switch 810 ($229). I'd say that the HAF XM is currently at the top of my list, with the Switch at the bottom as I recently read a review at Anandtech that showed it doesn't have great overall cooling, and it's also the most expensive of the 3 Cases here in Australia.
Regarding the MB size, I assume E-ATX is more common than XL-ATX? I wanted to get a Case with expandability so I can use larger sized MBs if I upgraded to a bigger MB.
Anyway, I've been ready to build this system for over a week now, but I just can't decide on which Case to get wink.gif. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

ha... I was stuck in same situation as you do, then at the end, I decided to get the Trooper. My last CM case was Stacker 830, it was awesome, then I switched to Silverstone before ST came out. ST reminds me of the Stacker, I thought I should give it a try. Today I received ST from Amazon but its going back tomorrow. I'm kinda disappointed. Box seems alright, but inside.. Styrofoam are all busted, few noticeable chipped paints in non-replaceable area on the case, so I'm sending it back for a replacement. Their QC really needs to step up.

Damn, that sucks. I blame the shipping company!

Received replacement today. Box looks fine and styrofoams are not as devastated as the first one, only one of them broken into two pieces. The case is better, but still have many noticeable scratches on top and side, so it is going back tomorrow for refund. Two strikes is too much for me. Maybe I'll buy one from another vendor, or a different case. Too bad, I really like CM cases for their design. But it seems CM has a bad batch of ST shipped to Amazon.. or maybe it's my luck.

That sucks. I thought Amazon is a highly reputable store. Actually now that I think about it, I am not sure how it works since I've never shopped there, but other Australian customers that I know of, that have shopped there, have said nothing but good things about it.

Is it actually a store or is it a place where other stores can set up shop and sell their goods from there?

btw guys, I have actually moved the NZXT Switch 810 into serious consideration as I have now seen you can get it in matte black. I wasn't too keen on a glossy black or white, but if I can source it in matte black locally, I might give the Switch a go. Just waiting to hear back from a local store if they can get it in matte black as they only list the white and gloss black versions of it.

Most places only have gloss/white version. Usually you have to buy the matte black online.
