Why doesn't this cost $2000? Or $3000? Technically the "market this case is aimed at" don't really care about insane pricetags, their wallets are bottomless right?

I expected this to cost no more than $700, $800 at a stretch. But if it's going to cost $1600 (for the completed case), it might as well have cost $3000.

So why should it cost $3k instead of $1600 fully loaded? There is no logic there...please explain it...because it is an expensive case manufactured on a limited production run by Silverstone that took more than a year to design?

Look at the engineering and when you finally understand this case, you might get it...I've had mine reserved for quite some time. I make no apologies for price, design, etc. If you don't like it, think it is too expensive, etc..that is your opinion and doesn't really belong here. This thread is about the release of one of the most well designed cases available, buy it, comment on the design, or grow up....

To the guy who thinks his Prodigy build is better than this case, it's like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari..check my build log if you think I'm wrong (I know a little bit about the Prodigy)...

I guess I'm just tired of people who can't afford it thinking they should comment on it negatively for that reason...If you can't buy one, that is sad, not everybody can...but don't use it as an excuse to trash it...

It isn't rather or not someone could buy one. It only proves the oblivious that OCN is no different from anywhere else. We all want/buy things that we don't actually need out of plan enjoyment based on our own personal taste. If anything differs from what is within their own personal taste and isn't a need then to them it is a stupid buy. When people learn to see around their own personal views this problem will no longer be a problem.

That all being said it does beg the question of "why doesn't this case cost more?". Given everything they've done to it is almost a steal if you compare to other cases on build quality, ease of use, and looks. It looks to me like those who are in the market for such a case will not be displeased with their purchase. This case could have easily been priced a little higher without actually being overpriced for what you are getting.

I guess, I was trying to make a point about the point the poster I aimed that at was making..He mentioned,"Why doesn't this cost $2000? Or $3000? Technically the "market this case is aimed at" don't really care about insane pricetags, their wallets are bottomless right?"

His logic is apparently because it is $1600, a person should pay $3k for it because we have bottomless wallets..I was just trying to understand the logic behind that...

I won't disagree that this case is highly undervalued for the work put into it, my point was for the poster this was addressed to..I would like to see his/her logic explained.

I think if you read the overall gist of my post, you and I are for the most part thinking similarly CrazyHeaven...If I didn't explain it more bluntly and clearly, I apologize, perhaps I should...

Paying people to work with their hands at that skill level is expensive period. This race to the bottom thing annoys me to no end, quality things cost money and you are supposed to keep them for a longer time period.

Exactly, people don't understand that limited production runs are on a whole different cost of scale from something mass produced. Both obviously have upsides, but if you want something unique and well made, expect to pay a whole lot more for it.

I guess I am tired of people who think that the only reason things like this get bashed is because people cannot afford it.

The reason this case is getting a lot of hate right now is because of the price COMBINED with what you get. You make this case seem like an engineering marvel, something along the lines of the newest wonder of the world, something that could never have been created up until this very day when the latest and greatest in machinery technology was unleashed on the world, something that only the brightest of Einstein case designers could have fathomed after spending years meditating atop the vast wilderness of the Hindu Kush mountains.

The reality is that its a friggin rip off of a case that introduces nothing new. Oh look its shiney and well put together... good for them. So is my case and everything inside of it. The only 'kewl' thing about it that is also really gimmicky are the watercooling tubes. Nothing else is unique or substantial to warrant the UTILITY received from spending an excess 1.2K+ on a case.

Furthermore, you sounded ultra defensive in your post almost as if you're trying to validate your purchase by having people bandwagon on your support. The reality is that a lot of people here are enthusiasts who enjoy creating their own highly modified computer. Paying a suit an extra $1.2K premium to do it for us is lame and unrealistic, so don't expect it here.

I love my phantom, only payed $130 for it, the rest of that $1070 built most of my rig.

sorry, but all I see is a $1200 piece of plastic. you can tri-fire 7970s for that price.
its a CASE, it doesn't even contain hardware, just plastic and aluminum like every other case on the market.
it doesn't cost more to manufacture, why should it cost $1000 more than everything else on the market?
hardcore enthusiast cases shouldn't cost any more than $300-$500.

@j3st3r

Not ultra defensive in the least bit, why do you have to troll the thread and try to make those of us who do like it feel bad for doing so? To imply I'm not an enthusiast is truly insulting. Who is the "suit?" Last time I checked, this was designed by Charles Harwood (one of the most prolific modders out there) and is now going to manufacturing by Silverstone for him. To say that we are buying this case so a "suit" can mod it for us is a joke at best. Some of us have an eye for design and can appreciate a piece of art when we see it. Last time I checked, OCN isn't just about modding, it's a community of enthusiasts that covers more than just one segment.

Your rude and insulting drivel is what is lame and unrealistic, so don't spew it here. If you would like to have a polite conversation about this case, I would be more than happy to do so.

@HK...nothing wrong with the Phantom..in it's price segment, it is a decent case. There are several enthusiast cases that run much more than $300-500. This case does cost a lot more to produce than a typical case as the materials are much better and much more intricate.
