3DMark07????
Thats gonna be one insane set of benchmarks!!!

When we got to 06 most peoples scores were tiny!

This guys kit dwarfs my 06 score!! (Not that it was that huge anywayz )

So why the higher marks with a conroe versus a "similarly" clocked kentsfield?

Only thing I can think of is the FSB on the Conroe is much higher as the Multi is only 12x versus 15x.

Also there is a slightly higher OC on the Conroe.

Enough to warrant 7000 MORE points in 3dmark06? I guess what I am trying to get at is: Kentsfield choked on a fsb bottleneck.

The Conroe E6700 slightly outperforms the QX6700 Kentsfield at idendical speed (and identical FSB). My take is that the extra two cores take up a little more overhead or put a little extra strain on the CPU.... Thus, when only one or two cores are used, the E6700 is just a little faster

But.... the CPU tests in 06 are multi threaded....not just one or two... MULTI.... as many as the cores you have.

This test is locked at 640x480 and it does not use any dynamic shadows to basically offload the GPU completely. The two CPU tests differ only in the parameters that affect the game load; Test 1 has an approximate physics load of 8% while Test 2 has one of about 13%. The AI load is conversely loaded as well.

Also, both CPU tests are setup to use multiple threads (at least three, more if more processors are available) so we should see some good benefits with dual core processors in the new 3DMark06 benchmark (since the CPU score is weighted in the overall score now).
