Could my 2600k cause BF3 crash?

I'm at work right now so can't test anything right now frown.gif
Anyway.

I've been having some strange issues with my pc lately and I can't seem to fix it :/

Whenever I play battlefield 3 for more then an hour the PC will completely freeze and I end up having to press the reset button.
At first it seemed like a PSU issue but I've tried with a different one (1200w) and still the issue remained.
Tried with different GPUs but same story.
So I'm wondering right now if it's possible that the CPU causes this to happen.
Haven't been paying close attention to the temps but even IF it would overheat it shouldn't cause freezing now should it?

I'm really all out of ideas here so any input is greatly appreciated smile.gif
My rig is the one in sig.

Edit, forgot to mention that its only with BF3.
Starcraft runs fine all day long.
I've even gone as far as a full format (in case of driver issue) but still nothing.

I had issues with BF3 to. Both with my 2600K and 3930K. It would jump out of the game saying i'm playing or just black screen, with
reset button the only option. Only thing that helped me, was underclocking GPU. (i have OC models with latest drivers, tried roll back drivers with no help)
Strange but it worked for me.

Ok so,

The only thing that seems to work is to run BF3 at lowest graphical settings and running a -100Mhz underclock on my GPUs. (doesn't matter if it's SLI or not)
I did give one of my cards to a friend and he seems to have none of the issues that I'm having.
So I'm not sure here.

Temps are no problem at all, everything runs fine until it's just crashes...
I can hear sound on the background still but the computer becomes completely unresponsive.
It seems like Sleeping Dogs has had a similar crash happening once or twice (may have been random)

I don't understand, and I'm really all out of ideas.
Since this issue started I replaced my mobo, GPU and PSU...
Wth is going on here?? headscratch.gif

BF3 is the only game that with i have had issues with. And so has my brother with his Ati 6970 lightning card (2600K cpu).
I downclock close to stock speed when playing BF3 and have no problems. And I use Ultra settings
Imo if it were a hardware prob. it would affect all games.
I read about this downclocking @ BF3 battle log forums. There are still people strugling with
black screen freezes.
