Last drop out of a 775 build

Thread Starter
Hello,

I'm thinking of a small upgrade of the PC I have in my sig:

Conroe e6300 @ 7x495

4GB Corsair Dominator

xfx HD 5770 960/1440

The "only" game I play for now is World of Tanks which doesn't support multi-core CPU so far and I do some Lightroom work as well.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on this PC for now.

I think, the CPU should be the first I need to change and probably later get another hd 5770 for crossfire.

I don't really want to spend more than 40 USD for a C2D conroe or pentium wolfdale or ~60 usd for e8xxx series.

My question is, would other CPUs be as overclockable as my current conroe which can do 24/7 495 fsb.

In the "newish" CPU I'd like to reach around 4ghz.

What would be the best bet? e5xxx wolfdale, conroe c2d with 4mb cache or try to look for a e8xxx?

Thanks

Deni

Even though parts may be found cheap. I think you are better off pocketing that money. You aren't going to get anything to make a sizable difference.

If its purely for a higher overclock... then I condone the idea.
