Android faithful might recall hearing back in April that HTC plans on bringing a 5-inch experience to Verizon this fall. Additional tidbits which have trickled out include the possibility of an HTC 6435LVW running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz processor and Adreno 320 GPU.

really awesome, but I really think that HTC should do away with hardware keys, and use ICS like it should be used with software keys.

Why?

On a device that small, is 1080p vs 720p (or similar) noticeable?

If not, then what's the point of making your hardware work harder for little to no gain?

Marketing...people will see the sign that says, "A true 1080p display! Watch your movies in full high definition on your phone!" and literally run to buy them.

When in reality I don't think human eyes will be able to tell the difference on a screen this small...those are going to be some really packed in pixels. I wonder if you could reach the point where the pixels are so packed that the display actually starts to appear worse? Never really thought about it before.

I could imagine, that there would be no noticeable difference, but why not? Its a matter of "because we can" and not "we need it". Honestly, I could stop at 720p and be happy for a long time.

anything over 720 on a 4 inch display cannot be perceived.... not sure about a 5 inch display though. I'm sure its mostly marketing and I wish they would work on screen quality and battery life more so than resolution... blacks not being black enough, ghosting, color fidelity, or brightness are more of an issue than a slight bump in resolution on such a tiny screen

lawlz.... I thought the same thing! for screens less than 5 inches those high resolutions aren't too different but on a normal monitors I think its blatantly obvious

Man, your sight must really suck... You might want to get some glasses man... In all seriousness though, when you have a screen a foot away from your face you can see pixels a lot more than if its 10 feet away from you. I have a Galaxy Nexus and its ~300ppi isn't enough for me... 1080p would be fantastic

Talking about a movie here.

Put on a 720p rip and then a 1080p rip you won't notice a difference

Yeah, it annoys me when other colors bleed into the blacks on a screen.
