Hey guys,

Lately my SSD has begun to stutter (quite badly, at that). Audio skips, video skips and sometimes the entire SSD just says "busy" and lights the HDD activity LED for like, 10 seconds before resuming. SSD has been updated to latest firmware, TRIM is enabled, and it's never been full ever. Not even half filled at this point in time. It's been doing this since day one or so, just not as frequently.

Anything I can do to "un-lag" it? Throughput is excellent and everything, it's just the stutters that confuse me.

Stutters occur during anything really, most noticeable when Youtubing cause the audio skips.

SSD is the Plextor M3P 256GB, FW 1.04. Drive is around 2 months old.

Looks like a TRIM/GC issue, but shouldn't be, cause TRIM is enabled on Windows.

Would a mirror of the drive contents, secure erase, and then re-mirroring the drive work?

Cause I'd really hate to reinstall all the programs I have currently. Also, I'd only be able to do that next week.

I get this same thing happening with mine if I install the drivers for my motherboard. I'm not sure if its the Intel Rapidstorage driver, a LAN driver, PCIe driver....what it is. But one of them causes this same stuttering on my rig, every SINGLE time. Lesson learned, I install Windows, let Windows handle all drivers except GPU and sound...and that's that.

Fair enough, I had issues with the iaStor drivers causing extended boot times (which don't happen on my desktop).

Could also be all this Lenovo stuff on board, but I can't quite uninstall them cause they make using the laptop easier, shortcuts and power manager and everything. And all this didn't occur when using the stock HDD either.

I'll see if there's anything else I can do, failing which I'll attempt a secure erase next week.

Mine also exhibited that stuttering problem when I installed the IRST driver.
It seems the low power mode is causing this problem on my drive. Worth a try.. Here

I only disabled the settings on my sata port where my SSD is plugged in.
