FOUND THE CULPRIT ! K well it was my DVD drive, after disconnecting that it knocked about 9 seconds off my boot time, all is well now, except... I need my DVD drive plugged in, lol.
Any ideas how I can have it plugged in without the boot time set back? It was disabled in the boot sequence, enabling it as #2 had the same effect I think. Gonna go confirm that now
Edit: Just tried all 3 of these these bios options - Disabled - CD ROM - PIONEER DVD
after doing each of the following:
Switched to a diff sata2 port
Switched to a new sata cable
Uninstalled in device manager, let windows reinstall
no results. Ideas anyone? I reckon the drive might be dying
Final edit: SOLVED.
Whacked the dvd drive into an msata port, re enabled msata controller in the bios and all is well. Booting in around 15sec
