CaseLabs Merlin SM8 - Now Shipping! - Page 29

I got a notification saying that mine has been shipped yesterday. According to the tracking, it should arrive this Friday.

I'm itching to get mine in and mess around with it, even though I won't be able to complete my build for at least another month.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to go with a black and red build or a black and blue. The only highly visible part that I have purchased so far is GPU, which is an Asus GTX 680 DirectCU II TOP. Since it's mostly black with a few red lines on it, I think it would fit in ok either way. I guess whatever motherboard I settle on will decide the color scheme.

Anyone got a matte white or a reverse atx they want to post pics of? Or better yet matte white reverse? Got to feed the anticipation....don't think I've ever been really excited about a new case before.

Update: got the notification that my case and pedestal shipped. Very nice.

I will post pictures of the one I have coming. It is a White Matte and I may actually build it as a reverse. I have not yet decided.

Hi Kevin/Jim.

I am looking to put in an order for an SM8 in the next week or to delivered two Australia.

But before I do I just want to make sure I have all the accessories I need for what I want to do with the case.

I want to put a 120.4 (480) rad up the top with the drop in mount.

A 120.2 (240) down the bottom in front of the PSU.

3 120mm fans in the front flex bays (no rad)

An optical drive and possibly a fan controller in the front bays
(Actually might just not have an optical drive, I rarely use it anyway on my current system), fan controller, might see about mounting it on the roof in front of the 480 rad as well so I can have a nice clean front.

Reservoir I think I want a "tube style" res probably mounted between the motherboard tray and the flex-bays

The Pump is really the only thing I don't know where I would put. I have an accessory mount V&H and a attachment plate (small) for the pump in my cart atm.

Is there anything more that I need to add to my cart for my proposed setup?

Since you're going with the ventilated Flex-Bay covers, I'm not sure you need the two singles ($15.90). A PSU cover plate comes with the case, so unless you want an extra one to mod, you probably don't need it. The MAC-113 mounts probably won't fit in front of the radiators as seen here, but a ventilated bay cover will work:

If a drop-in mount is used, the radiator is offset to one end a bit, so fitting a MAC-113 has a much better chance depending on the radiator used.

Next to my U3011 for size comparison.

My wife walked in the room and said "Holy crap, is this a joke?"
She was blown away at how massive the case is.

I am loving my Merlin SM8!!!!
Sorry for the crappy iPhone pictures.
It's too dark in here to take more pictures.
I might take some more tomorrow.

Caselabs, you guys are awesome!
The case came ridiculously well packaged!
Quality is incredible.

Well done!!!

Ahh the first unboxing! biggrin.gif:D

We are glad you like it! You know I think Jim would agree with me when I say we are almost as excited to see the unboxing pics as everyone else, but in a slightly different way.
