Does the SM8 top happen to also fit the pedestal? If so, it would be nice for HDD storage next to the case instead of having to mount it to the top or bottom.

Not on its own, but if the pedestal is mounted on top of the SM8, the 120mm top cover will fit.

I can't figure out what this means. Are you saying the 120mm cover will only fit the top of the pedestal if it's mounted on top the case?
Not trying to give you a hard time, but this doesn't make sense to me. tongue.gif Why wouldn't the 120mm cover fit the pedestal standing alone vs mounted to the case?
Or are you saying the 120mm cover can be mounted on top the case, then the pedestal mounted on top of that?

I'm sorry, that was a pretty vague answer redface.gif When the pedestal is place on top of the SM8/ST10, the upper chassis sections of the case and pedestal are swapped, so attaching the top cover above the pedestal isn't a problem. One cosmetic issue I need to point out is that there will be a larger than normal gap between the top of the door and the pedestal side cover when it is mounted on top of the case. We may offer special side covers to eliminate that.

So then why do you have to use the 120mm top? shouldn't it fix to the upper chassis section as normal?

I can't think of a practical situation where you would use both the pedestal and a 120mm cover on the top of the case, but could could if you wanted to. Either cover will work.

My SM8 just came in. 5 min impressions: More expertly built than any silver stone, more thoughtful and thick vs a Lian Li. Grommets are super thick, the paint is nice... Yep, this is the case. Never going back to mainstream cases. Much lighter in weight than I thought it would be yet sturdy. Every piece has a purpose in the frame, and it all fits like a glove. Liquid awesome sauce.
