miniDP-to-DVI Cable (20-25') QUESTIONS

'Ello.

Here's my current predicament:
I'm trying to use a 24" LCD (Asus VW246H) as a 'TV' in my room so I can lay down and watch movies and such. To properly route the cable to the LCD, I need roughly 20' of cable. I could probably use a 16' cable but that'd be cutting it close. Anyways, I ordered a 25' HDMI cable, but my miniDP adapter doesn't have enough juice to send the video through such a long cable. The cable works fine, I tested it on other components that support HDMI, but it won't work fine for this certain situation.

I was thinking, why not buy a miniDP-to-DVI adapter and a long DVI cable in order to make my setup functional.

So here's my question:
Does my conclusion (sentence two lines up) seen plausible? Are there other solutions I should look into??

Thanks thumb.gif

I'll be using my receiver/speakers for audio, so no need for audio support.

It's connected as follows: Macbook Pro -> miniDP-HDMI adapter -> 25' HDMI cable -> LCD

(And this is how I'd have it hooked up if I were to go the DVI route)

I was browsing newegg and I saw miniDP-DVI adapters being labeled as (Active) which makes me assume they're more equipped to push the signal further?

Has anyone been in a similar predicament ?
