So I installed twin turbos to both my cards today. 61/49c with both fans on 80%, but my second card now throttles much more. It was always throttling sooner but now it's worse. What's throwing me here is I've checked the vrm temps, they're the same if not lower. So if the core runs cooler and so do the vrm, what on earth is making it throttle? I know it's not a seating issue because I'm still using the stock vrm cooler. This is extremely frustrating because I can't go back to running unlocked until this is fixed but there's no where else to go from here.

If you overclock a 660 TI Power Edition by at least 100+ core (around 1200mhz with boost) and run 2 of them in SLI, you will effectively have very similar fps to a GTX 690, that's if you running 1080p.

Anything higher resolution or high amounts of AA will screw you over.

Well I fixed my issue and confirmed the cause at the same time. I unlocked my cards, applied a higher overclock, and removed my custom fan profile. Both cards now run the same speed with no throttling due to the higher temps.

You bring up a issue I had that didn't know cause . My MSI 660ti PE/OC out of box would run 1202 . I didn't like temps reaching 70c so I used AB to keep them in check (set profile so mid 50c , approx 50% max at load).

I found with that setting now I only got to 1189 , so had to set +13 to get back stock default . I have since raised so it reaches 1228 mhz . So investigating a bit . disable fan profile got me 1241 in heven, and I noticed it only went to higher clock after it got warmed up a bit .

It seems once I hit 60c then it ran full clocks , so seems 60c-70c is whats needed to get full speed , at least for me .

PS: with heven=extreme setting I got a error display driver not responding or something in tray , heven screen went black for sec ,OS didn't crash . this was at 1241 . I lowered back to 1228 and happened again .

Once this happens to have to reboot to reset driver properly of is ver4.0 heven extreme that much harder than 3.0 . I have ran 3.0 at 1255 w/o issues .

Here is my Heaven Extreme preset run with Gigabyte 660ti.

Is this acceptable enough? Core running at 1267mhz.. Had to downclock from 1293mhz which was stable on 3.0, but 1293 and 1280mhz would crash alot in 4.0.

EDIT\PROTIP:
At first it would crash at 1267 too, but if i increased voltage from +37 to +50 it was stable. Maybe 1293 or atleast 1280 would have been stable too if i pushed the voltage even higher, but im not very comfortable with pushing voltage too much.

what card are you running , I was running with 0 offset voltage for my MSI 660ti PE/OC .

running Heven 4.0 extreme was first time I ever got the driver error . Do you need to reboot system or is it ok just to restart AB (so proper fan and clocks are set ) , just wondering if that is needed .
Seems ok with just reset AB, tried few games and its fine so Heven 4.0 extreme is a lot taxing or just buggy as Far Cry3 I get even higher temps and load than Heven 4.0 even though it crashes the driver .

I guess I could up voltage a bit just for safe measure if that would stop it .

Gigabyte 660ti OC version (1032/1111mhz) 2gb. Boost is usually 1241mhz at stock clocks, so my 1267mhz OC is nothing big. And beside that it just crashed. Guess Stock 1241mhz is the only thing i can run unigine 4.0 stable on at the moment it seems.

I really hope that the next nvidia drivers will adress this or else im doomed to this cards stock clock(yada yada i know its a factory oc'ed card and the stock is actually an OC in its own right:P). The +500 memory is fine all along though, so im fine with that.

Ok, thats one of highest stock OC cards out there then, 1241 is pretty high .

Yeh, I don't know on Heven 4.0 , down clocking does fix it but I hear there valley BM passes fine like Heven 3.0 so who knows .

What app are you using to raise voltage ?

I may raise mine 10-20mv just for a safety cushion .
