Once again I'm wondering about the GPU core voltage the MSI Afterburner is capable of increasing on MSI Power Edition cards. The Afterburner allows tuning the voltage by up to 100mv, so what actual GPU voltage am I supposed to get? Say the default is 1.15 - 1.175v, so additional 100mv should put it to somewhere around 1.25v+? I found one person on other forum saying his MSI GTX660Ti PE could only go to 1100MHz on the core with the Afterburner voltage slider maxed out. However, when he used an unlocked BIOS to allow 1.21v, his maximum GPU overclock went up by a whopping 100MHz, all the way to 1200MHz. I think this clearly indicates the Afterburner adds nothing near to real 100mv. Yes I know NV has set the 1.175v GPU voltage limit in BIOS and that MSI has implemented their own technique to circumvent this limitation (at least partially).

You can do that yourself, just refer to post #1281 on this thread.

You cant go higher than 1,212mv on 660ti, even with unlocked bios. Its hard limited on the PCB to 1,212 unfortunately. but it helps alot smile.gif

That small voltage bump really helps a lot like kjekay said, I got my 660Ti to over 1300Mhz.

Do you guys think the voltage of 1.21v is safe in long run? I'm currently contemplating whether or not to unlock mine. Right now I'm fully stable at 1250MHz (max boost) with +30mv on the GPU (or whatever REAL voltage increase I get from that).

Well they hardware limited the board to 1,212mv, so it should be safe up to that imo smile.gif But remember to keep good cooling on during load. Not every system dependant component has their own temp monitoring u know! U want to keep good airflow inside your case smile.gif

Hi guys, little off topic but have a question if others are seeing this .

I have had, played FC3 since it came out , I would say generally very solid play with just occasionally issue of "hosting migration " sometimes never reconnected and had to close out the game an restart .

During play never had any issue .

Other day while playing , after a respawn , I respawn without a gun texture , if I brought up gun I say just sight points , I played through but other texture started to get corrupted . so closed out game. restarted and was fine .
funny thing I even lowered clock to only 1215 as I had issue in Heven4.0 so left it lower, for safety reasons .

Now that I think of it the host migration issue and one or two times when getting back to menu after game it locked up, but this is very , very rare. just few times since I have it and play ever night for 1+ hrs .

Anyway , I clocked it back to stock now (1202) to see if that changes anything . I have borderlands2 too, but that doesn't give any issues or any other game .

Was just wondering if the game is a little buggy on PC , I have retail DVD PC version, not steam if that matters .

Oh, forgot to mention above , I am on 314 drivers and the clcoks I was using at time of texture iusse was gpu=1228 and mem 3150 , pretty conservative , stock voltage . If I find down clocking helps maybe I just raise gpu voltage up 20mv or so .

constructive opinion is that your looking at bottlenecks somewhat from the CPU,
and possibly HDD but I'm use to SSD's or 10K Veloci's so that's just me.

let's see the P2 X4 830 is what 2.8GHz with no L3 cache, not overclocked because of the Dell or is this Dell clockable.?
they did make a few with limited BIOS options.
tried AMD Overdrive on it and what are your RAM specs.?
at least it is a quad from AMD and not a dual core because then you'd be stuck for real nowadays.
so your FPS situation is the bottleneck from the CPU in my opinion.

with that being said the GTX 660 Ti is a nice start to a round of upgrades.
next I would get a case and mobo, PSU; AM3+ mobo and not sure if your current Dell PSU is a proprietary or standard ATX.
Thank you so much for the help. I was thinking I'd get a new case, definitely, since the cooling in this thing is horrid. You can google the dell xps 7100 power supply to see what it is exactly, but I read that it says "AcBel Rev A00 Date B1023 Model PC9004 ID 2406
Total power max 460w". I think I'll get a new one just for the peace of mind, and so I can SLI later in the future. Got any case recommendations? It'd be cool if I could get something that was quiet, since the current one is really loud..

How would I check this stuff about the bios? I was playing around with MSI afterburner, and it let me overclock the gpu and change the fan speeds and stuff. Probably doesn't have to do with the cpu and stuff, but it might.
The ram that came with it is apparently 1333mhz, but I haven't figured out how to check it. I bought samsung 1.35v 1600mhz ram but it might be limited by the motherboard at 1333. I might also upgrade to an SSD in the future.
