I can run Heaven 4.0 successfully at 1215MHz / 1811MHz (core / memory).

Obviously, I'd have to get a better heatsink, as I already run into 73C when gaming at lower core clocks than that. But when running heaven, my core temperature doesn't reach 70C, so at least there, temperature is not much of a factor. Would it make sense unlocking voltage for my card, or is it just not a good overclocker for the core in any case?
That is a little high on temps as it will start temp throttling above 70-71c .
Are you running custom fan profile ?

Well Heven 4.0 with extreme setting is pretty hard on the card . if you can run heven 4.0 at 1215 you can probably run in most games at 1228 but need to address temps .

Raising voltage will allow higher clocks by few steps ,but your temps will go up doing so even on same clock speed .

IMO, address your temps if you can, then see how much headroom you have to raise voltages .

How your case airflow , make sure you have good flow and if you can fit side fan for vid card that be good .

Thats really been blown out of proportions IMO , If you run 1080 then should be no real issue unless you like AA cranked up , even something like 2560x1600 should be fine ,of course depends on game and settings .

As far as bandwidth, if you compare AMD card top cards to 680 , they have more bandwidth but is it really hurting playability .

I mean if you wanted to run 2560x1600 with highest AA, then you probably got wrong card but other than that it should not bottleneck much for most users .

your right and I should have been more specific...
@ 1080p your fine, anything higher especially Surround and it's a factor as is the 2GB of VRAM @ higher and Surround resolutions, turn down AA.
again, 1080p your fine..

and I do still have my N660GTX-Ti PE 2GD5/ OC, check my 'test-bench' rig..

aeh say what? atm im at 1085/1197 boost, 3154 memory and the temp goes 71-72 after one heaven 4 bench.

It will help forgetting temps for second (if yours will always be below 70c ) , then something like 26- 40mhz or so but again it is going to raise temps a few c doing this , even at same clock speed .

How much the voltage helps depends on chip and also card components .Some have gotten higher clocks and some lower improvements but I think above would be avg amount .

how you keep your 660 ti under 70°? mine gets to hot 75+, without raise the fan on 60%, but thats unbareable loud. and its only 1065 clock/ 3280 memory... i gues my case airflow sucks ;(
post #1860 of 3662
Mine doesn't stay under 70C in gaming--more like 72-73C, but it's a reference design which I keep at lower fan speeds, because of the buzzy fan. For testing and benchmarking, I run the fan at static 80% speed to avoid throttling. I almost swapped the reference heatsink for something else, but it actually works very well in my Define R4, so I left it alone for now. If I unlock the voltage, I'll swap the heatsink. I'm just not sure how much unlocking voltage would help, just because I couldn't get past 1215MHz core stable in Heaven 3.0 even when the card did not reach 70C (max fan speed)--and I do see close to 100% GPU utilization running it, so it was definitely stressed. I thought it was a good indicator of what a card can do, running Heaven 3.0 at max possible settings without crashing / artifacts and preventing temperature from going past 70C while still not making it past 1215MHz stable (can sometimes hit 1226MHz).
