on the nVidia Surround thread right now is someone bottlenecking like crazy and even mentions it with benches..
wasn't that bad with the single GPU but now with SLi they're upgrading CPU's and maybe platform.
same 6100 but clocked @ 4.8GHz and bottlenecking..
the fact that you do not realize the 6100 is the weakest FX chip is rubbish..

cheers.

Dude, surround? he has a 24 inch monitor, single... not multiples.

Yeah he has a weak chip, but his overclock is fine and there are thousands of people that get more out of SLI or a GPU upgrade than a CPU upgrade when it comes to gaming.

I do concur that he would get more benefit if he did both CPU and GPU.. lol, that's a given.

I am going to eat some of my words - the 6100 is crap and does seem to be a real bottleneck even at higher resolutions... when compared to an intel chip anyway. It's hard to say categorically which will give higher fps though in this particular case... I would think a platform upgrade to intel would be of greater benefit overall.

The game itself is just uber demanding graphically, that's why its included in a bunch of GPU benchmark tests (aka the "Crysis" test). The only way to solve it is get a faster card, really.

GTX 660 Ti vs HD 7950
with all the Radeon drivers issues, they are now fixing Skyrim after the game being out for 14 months already..
Zotac 660 Ti vs MSi 7950 to be exact and the 660 Ti winning out.

Well i know exactly what you saying and i agree, but the weird thing is a had a 550ti before this card and it lagged a hell of allot but it looked better than this card? really weird?
the fact the nVidia with Kepler cripple so much computing technology that in the right bench or app it shows Fermi clearly has some advantages.
in games it seems that besides Skyrim, the Crysis series does better with Fermi cards.
example I'm referencing is the 660 Ti like we have vs GTX 580, the cards are to be almost equals with the 660 Ti a slight notch better.
but looking at the benches say anandtech for one, show the GTX 580 performing better in games that utilize more compute technology.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/647?vs=517
look at Compute: Civilization V as well favoring the Fermi card.

let's just hope the GTX 7 series has the entire package together and not just a boost in gaming, compute is going to matter.
my opinion..

question to fellow 660 Ti owners.....
who has tried and/or is running 310.90.?
I haven't even tried 310.70 as I'm still running 306.97.
thanks in advance.

cheers.

310.90 not a single issue yet. BF3 crashed my system the other day, how do I find out what caused the crash? Essentially, my system just locked up in the middle of a match so had to reboot. two minutes later I was back in the game but map I was playing on wasn't listed anymore. I concluded it wasn't a issue with my system, but with the game. thinking.gif
