Looking at used 2500k that has been OC'd to 4.5GHz

Thread Starter
Hi, I'm thinking about buying someone's used 2500k it is supposedly stable at 1.3V w/ a 4.5GHz 24/7 OC. He is using a very capable WC setup I'll be using a rasa750 240 kit.

Just wondering if anyone can let me know if I should be worried about what he claims as the stability and if that voltage is dangerous. Also is this OC above or below average.

45 is fine so long as hes not gone mental with the volts.

im running 4.4 on air, with an arctic freezer 13. with 1.28v atm
post #3 of 32
Should be fine. I've had mine up to 4.55 on air for about 6 months or so, undervolted. I wouldn't hesitate if the price were right.

I agree - should be fine. My 2600k takes 1.32v to get to 4.5 Ghz, so his numbers sound valid.
Microcenter has them for $160 (if you are lucky enough to live within driving distance), so I wouldn't pay too much for it.

I've mine at 4.5GHz around 1.31-1.32. Just ask him to run Prime95 for 12 hours or so if you don't believe it's truly stable.

Mine does 4.5 at about 1.29 volts, and I don't even think it's that good of a chip. As for the voltage, many people run at or above 1.5 volts and are fine.

Mine's seen 1.65v for some 3DMark runs, and up to 1.58v for 5.0GHz 24/7. Still rock solid at 4.90GHz, 1.53v.

People get too afraid with these things, and I find it silly. 1.50v and less is just fine on Sandy Bridge, so long as you use offset.

For the record, my chip wants 1.39v for a measely 4.5GHz. If his wants 1.30v, then it should do half decent, and might even get to 5.0 stable with safe voltages.
