So, what if your Internet or their servers fail? Does the game just close? Does it do this on all previous AC titles?

when ac2 came out on pc. people that actually bought the game couldnt play for weeks because hackers DDOS'd assassins creed 2's drm servers

Finally. I'm in for AC3 then.

Two things to note about UPlay:

You can buy boxed editions and have them delivered (since the "Insane Edition" on the UPlay store includes physical content and is on sale on UPlay) <- That's quite win.

The price is quite decent to be honest.

I won't if you have to use uplay. Which won't bother me much because I've never really played any modern Ubisoft games (except for FC2). I am considering it if we don't have to use uplay though.

Yeah I'm just 'fake' reading between the lines, trying to uncover the sinister plot Ubisoft has planned as they figure out a way to really lock down future content with really crazy DRM methods.

And I also predict the future too: Soon each major company that publishes video games (Ubisoft placing third largest in the world according to Wikipedia) will all have their own distribution client acting as a means of DRM, just like Steam, Origin, and Uplay!

It's a TRAP!

I don't trust them and I'll only believe it when I see it. For now I'll assume that when Ubisoft's next game launches people will discover some form of DRM they are trying to hide from us. It'll take more than a statement from Ubisoft to change their reputation.

Of course there will be DRM, they aren't trying to hide that. It just won't be always online as it currently is, which is really the only major problem most people have with current DRM.

Problem is that what people say on the internet barely matters.

As much as the "I'll buy Ubi games again" chant goes round, the fact that people assume the maybe 0.01% of gamers who gave a damn about always on DRM in the first place is somehow going to signal some kind of discernable change past less moaning from "geeks* is troubling.

As much as Ganja is seemingly joking around, I'm not of the opinion that we're (or Ubi more importantly) going to see anything vastly different.

You may be right. The world is full of people unlike me and others who actually stand on our principles and vote with out wallets.

I for one look forward to now being able to buy DRM free games from them. They have been on my "black list" for some time now, and there are some games I would like to play from them. Once the DRM's are gone, I will open up my wallet to them and play them.
