find a server with low ping. Anything over 50 ping will cause lag

That aside, I'd say giving the CPU overclocking a go is a good idea. Oh, and turn off Supersampling in GW2, lol. I don't know if GTX 670 is supposed to max GW2 out @ 60fps with supersampling, but I can't do that either. The game runs a lot smoother with everything at very high and supersampling off. Although I actually think I also put a single thing from very high to high, just because I wanted to be sure to not get drops while playing thinking.gif

Read a guide on how to overclock, I personally find it fun untill things start to crash because of it tongue.gif
But seriously, find a guide on this site. Are you running stock cooling on the CPU?

Anyway, you can't really hurt the computer as long as you stay within the constraints of heat/voltage. Even then a bit of extra voltage/heat for a bit won't hurt, as long as it's not left like that for 24/7 use.

There's no point in upgrading from a i7 920 this generation, it's still plenty fast enough. I'd wait till next gen and possibly after to upgrade. biggrin.gif

This too,
You probably turned shadows down to high? That's what I do in all games first, put shadows on medium to try and smooth out the FPS above 60 thumb.gif

No, I haven't enabled supersampling. Also, turning reflections from "all" to whatever the second highest one is gave me ~5 more fps, but nothing else gave me significant FPS improvement beyond that. Even lowering shadows from ultra to medium gave negligible FPS. Maybe it was just the area I was in (human starting area)...

I'm afraid you're all very unlikely to be able to persuade me to overclock my CPU by myself tongue.gif maybe you don't understand just how tech unsavvy I am, or maybe it's in my personality to be cautious and uncourageous.

Besides, it would only cost me a few days (less than a week's) worth of my income to pay someone to overclock it, and that's far less time (and headache) than trying to do it myself. I'm just not sure how to find someone...

If I do find someone, what's a rough ballpark figure for how much to pay someone to OC? I really have no idea, as far as I know it could be $50 or $400.

Maybe you just don't know how tech unsavvy I AM! I still managed to OC my CPU. That's a i5 2500k though, don't know how easy/hard it is to overclock your CPU. But if you can get a friend to help you, I really think it would help on the performance

I'd say $100 or so. Simply because they'll use a bit of power to keep it running at full load while testing it. Some people may want more though for overclocking.
Probably stop at $150 as anything above that is a rip off, you should ask them to overclock the CPU, the RAM and the Graphics card if possible, otherwise just the CPU would be fine. I reckon a computer shop might do it for you, you could always ask a local PC shop (maybe where you got it built) and see if anyone will do it for you. Maybe a friend or a cash in hand job with someone that works at the store? smile.gif

That's a great cooler, you should be able to get some more juice out of your CPU with that. Again, I'd really recommend you doing it yourself. It's actually quite interesting (apart from all the stress testing). I've learned quite a bit by learning how to overclock my CPU. But if you really don't want to do it yourself, then don't do it. But as I said, that cooler is good enough for overclocking your CPU.
