I was thinking the same myself but from what I've seen there aren't really any decent air coolers that will fit this board. Not ones that will allow you to OC very high that is.

Noctua NH-U9B SE2 on a 2500K overclocked at 4.6 constantly, 4.8 max.

Yes I did look at that cooler but frostytech didn't show very good numbers for it. How are your noise/temperature characteristics? Do they break 80 degrees at 4.6? My planned ivy bridge would probably come in hotter.

Noise is inaudible and the temperatures idle about 35, peak 60ish under load, though cant send screen shots right now as my rig is out of action. Don't forget its just the cooler that but the layout of the case that will effect temperatures, and i have a number of fans very close to the cooler, so much so that i think i will run it without direct fans soon.

Could you attach a pic? The cooler looks huge. Are the fans blowing out the sides parallel to the gpu? Just to confirm, you do have a gpu in the pci slot right?

Best i have unfortunately.

However i will tell you now that the back plate needs some modification due to the dam mSATA connector and the clips for the fans can not be used if you have a GPU installed, which i do.

What kind of mods? Nothing requiring power tools I hope?

No power tools, a bit of rubber needs trimming, nothing detrimental.

The front panel is technically upside down, i wanted the bay at the bottom, but now might be convenient to put it back at the top, will see. I shall have to get some updated photos taken as my cable management has got even better!
