Does this board allow software based fan control?how many independent channels and in what voltage ranges? Can I do this from within os x or will I have to boot into the bias? Can the cpu fans be independently controlled from the case fans?

it will, but the orientation matters if you want to fit the second fan. not a big deal really

2 fan headers , one controls via PWM while the other via voltage IIRC but the software fan control is rubbish at best. you can manage the fan via bios or OS thats up to you.

It fits as i have it with 2 fans (see profile photos).

why is it rubbish? So is recon the (expensive) way to go? I was under the impression pwm isn't controllable no? So technically I could have pwm case fans and fixed cpu fans and have them both be independently controlled?

The ASRock software isn't rubbish, just doesn't allow a whole heck of a lot of finite control - which for 99% of users - is just fine.

Both cpu/sys headers can be controlled via SpeedFan or like software regardless of PWM or voltage controlled.

Hope that answered your questions.

just to clarify, both pwm and non pwm fans are equally controllable is that right? Even if I have a mix of both in series in a single channel? And the system is cpu/case agnostic?

hello,
did anyone try a scythe kozuti cpu cooler with this mb?

i have this awesome idea,

i'm going to mod my sg08, basically i'm just going to take off the ODD bracket, HDD bay, and the 180mm fan and filter assembly on top,

then i can have this whole area for a dual 140mm radiator, yay!

all i have to to is to fabricate a radiator mount/bracket, and drill more vent holes on the top of the case cover.

Very interesting idea, are you going to be able to fit fans on it? And will everything else fit?

BTW, what gpu is that?
