I too, notice CPU-Z reporting only the full speed. I'm currently running without a heatsink so speedstep is very important to me haha.

Another bitfenix prodigy water cooled project coming up using this board and a de-lidded 3570k!

Does anyone else get a buzzing sound from this motherboard when gaming?

It's not the PSU or GPU, it's definitely the motherboard, and only happens when a GPU is installed and a game running.

I've replaced every component and even ran the motherboard outside the case to narrow down the sound.

It seems to come from around the CPU socket/PCIE area.

I've tried different GPUs, PSUs, RAM, SSDs as I thought it could just be coil whine at first.

I've had the motherboard replaced and even tired an Asus ITX motherboard which too had the same buzzing sound from the same area.

I also tried disabling C1E, C3 and C6 as I know these can cause the CPU area to buzz but that didn't help either.

First! (Post of 2013)

Sorry, I had to do that wink.gif

Anyway, I had a question. What does the red "CLR CMOS" light on the back indicate? Should I jumper pins 2 and 3 to clear the CMOS?

There are no problems booting up though. I enter POST and BIOS just fine. Should I still clear the CMOS?

Mine makes a hissing noise, even with the power off. Luckily its quiet enough that I don't notice it with the machine running unless my head is right near it.

Hitting the clear cmos switch clears out the bios settings. It's not something you just press for no reason tongue.gif It's useful if you mess up your bios settings and the computer does not boot or anything. The button lights up while booting and goes off when in windows I believe.

And it's not 2013 where I am yet.

for those of you considering the Xigmatek Dark Knight II Night Hawk Ceramic Edition (sorry, had to be clear because there is actually an earlier version by almost the same name).........IT FITS!!!! with plenty of space to spare for the GPU. I've not put the fan in yet, but you can probably see that it'll fit with room to clear on the side opposite the GPU.

1. the top left corner of the backplate needs to be snipped off a little
2. low profile rams are recommended.

I get a very slight buzz for 1 or 2 seconds only when I load up gta4 on the loading screen. It never happened before getting the gpu, but my money is on either the psu having a slight coil whine under a certain load or the gpu.

Doesnt really matter as I said, it only happens on one game for 1 second at most, and I am used to coil whine with one of my tvs having coil whine of epic proportions when it is turned off, so I just unplug it when not using it, (very off topic but just ranting on dynex televisions being not so great tongue.gif)
