I could have swore I read about what I'm asking here on Google last week but I don't remember what it said. And now I can't even find it. I'm looking at the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme. 2 questions

1. will it fit?
2. will it block PCI-e slot?

I have Crucial Ballistix Elite memory, the headsink fins on it and ginormous, don't know if this would effect the heatsink fitting, that's assuming it will at all.
Try the Factal Designs Node 304 http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=product&prod=94
It should fit in there.
where did you find the Adapter kit for the TRUE120??? I have the socket 775 version but couldn't find a bolt-through-kit. and went for the thermaltake all in one water cooler instead with my stock i5 3570k I haven't seen it go above 45 degrees with the fans at 40%

I don't have knowlage about particular brands in this price segment so I cannot suggest you anything specyfic. But 7970 is deffinitly better than 680/679 at higher resolusions, so it maybe better option at WQHD (2560x1440) resolution.

Low noise 7900 series would be Gigabyte WindForce or MSI Twin Frozr 7950/7970. The rest are pretty audible in comparison.

Whoops I guess it wasn't the True 120 I saw, it's actually the Ultra-120 eXtreme Rev C I'm considering getting. I can't find any definite into on if it's backplate will fit on the Phoenix so I'm going to just have to pray it does smile.gif

The controller itself is nice if you dont mind the noisy fans but the software side of it is kinda meh at best as the controller dont respond well to it. The controller is kinda fickle heart as well as it cant seemed to decide what speed it wants to be on even after manually forcing it to a speed.

Whilst i would agree that when in manual certain fans can fluctuate marginally in speed, this largely seems down to the fans been used and not the controller. Some of the fans i have tried and use stay set at their target speed whilst one or two others like to move about a bit. That been said i wouldn’t say the Bitfenix Recon is bad, in fact I’m perfectly happy with mine and would go as far to say it’s the best fan speed controller i ever had (and i have had a lot). I doubt you will find a touch screen and controller cheaper in price and with features like internet connectivity it’s hard to beat.

well my main complain is that it cant go low enough for my fans to be inaudible while the regular "pot" type can dial it down pretty low and the internet interface is a bit dodgy as i bought it specifically for the internet interface as i wont be able to access the touch panel once i mount it inside the case as i dont have a 5.25" bay to mount it. so i would be relying 100% on the web interface on an auxiliary screen like a tablet or phone to monitor and control the fans.

i really wish they made it in 3.5" form though and offer lighting control too but i guess i'd make an adaptor to wire my lighting kit to the fan header. if only corsair didnt make it corsair fan proprietary i would have gotten that instead but i guess you cant go wrong with the recon as its pretty cheap for what it does and it would satisfy majority of the users except for silent enthusiast

That is why I've stuck with my Sunbeam Rheosmart 6. It's simple and lets me run my fans pretty low without the grinding noise some fan controller/fan combos make.
